General Roxas District emerged as the overall champion of the UNIT Meet 2025 Paragames, held from September 18-21 at Calinan Central Elementary School and Lt. Cipriano Elementary School Grounds. The district showcased their athletic prowess by dominating various events, including Athletics Boys, Athletics Girls, Athletics VI, Swimming, and Bocce.
Led by Ernie C. Ambayen, District SNED Coordinating Principal, and Julie Cris C. Ayuman, SNED District Coordinator, the team proved unstoppable. They were supported by dedicated coaches: Arlene B. Arconado (Bocce), Julie Cris C. Ayuman (Athletics Boys), Norlie P. Centillas (Athletics VI), Marilou R. Rosales (Athletics Girls), and Norma C. Lloren (Swimming).
Julie Cris C. Ayuman expressed immense pride in the athletesโ resilience, saying, โProud kaayo ko sa mga bata kay bisan bag-o pa ang uban ug walay sakto nga training tungod sa kakulang sa oras, ilang paningkamot mao gyud ang nakadaog. โ
Despite limited training time, the athletes of General Roxas District persevered, using everyday challenges as opportunities for growth. Ayuman added, โMy plan is to continue practicing even more, so we can improve our skills, prepare better for the next competitions, and show that with discipline and determination, we can achieve greater things.โ
General Roxas Districtโs victory not only reflects athletic excellence but also embodies the values of hard work, perseverance, and teamwork. With eyes set on the upcoming DCAA Meet, the district has raised the bar for future UNIT Meets, inspiring young athletes throughout the community.

In the quiet community of Purok 1, Dacudao, Calinan, Davao City, lives a mother whose love and determination shine brighter than her struggles. Honey Lyn R. Dianito, 36 years old, is not just a small sari-sari store owner and mother of twoโshe is a woman whose strength was forged in the challenges of raising a child in the autism spectrum.
Before her sonโs diagnosis, Honey Lyn faced days of deep depression and sleepless nights of worry. Her sonโs lack of awareness of danger meant she had to keep watch 24 hours a day. Every step outside, every simple chore, was shadowed by fear. And with the added financial strain of therapy sessions, the weight on her shoulders grew heavier.
โEvery day felt like a constant battle. I was always afraid, always tired. There was no rest, no pause, only worry,โ Honey Lyn recalls.
Choosing Courage Over Fear
Her turning point came when she decided to seek professional help. A doctor encouraged her to learn about autism spectrum disorderโto read, research, and understand her sonโs unique world. Slowly, Honey Lyn found herself not just surviving, but fighting back with knowledge and courage.
She enrolled her son in therapy, committed herself to learning, and began to see glimmers of hope.
โWhen I started to understand autism, I also started to understand my child. Thatโs when hope began to return,โ she shares.
A School That Opened Its Doors
But Honey Lynโs journey was not just about therapyโit was also about finding a place where her child would be accepted. That place turned out to be General Roxas Central Elementary School (GRCES).
For her, GRCES was more than just a school. It was a lifeline. Free tuition lightened the burden of finances, a supportive environment nurtured her sonโs growth and most importantly, there was no judgment only acceptance.
โIt is so hard to find a school that accepts children like mine. But in GRCES, I felt hope. I felt kampante. My son is no longer left outโhe is learning, he is growing,โ Honey Lyn says with a smile.
From Hopelessness to Hope
Today, Honey Lyn no longer feels defeated by circumstances. With the partnership of the school, the dedication of therapy, and her unwavering love as a mother, she sees progress in her sonโs journey.
Her story is not just one of struggleโit is one of resilience, transformation, and triumph.
Honey Lynโs voice now carries a message for every parent walking the same path: that acceptance is possible, that hope is real, and that love, when coupled with understanding, can conquer even the heaviest battles.
โI am no longer hopeless. My son is developing, and we are not alone. Together with the school and therapy, we are moving forward,โ she declares, her words echoing a motherโs unbreakable spirit.
