As a developing implementer of the WinS program, the school welcomed the validation team with preparedness and determination, showcasing its initial efforts in promoting proper hygiene, sanitation, and learner welfare.

School Head Sir Jim Boy E. Tubigon expressed strong support for the initiative, stating, “The school supports the WinS program because it truly promotes the overall well-being of our learners and school personnel by fostering healthy habits, positive behavior, and a supportive learning environment.”

The validation was led by Juvelyn P. Rongcales, RN, Ryl May E. Ferolino, RN, and Maricel G. Ando, RN, with the assistance of Tugbok West district nurse Anna Leah L. Salvado, RN, and Raymond O. Baquial, RN, who conducted a comprehensive assessment of the school’s compliance with WinS standards.

Among the key areas evaluated were the availability and functionality of handwashing facilities, cleanliness and accessibility of restrooms, proper waste segregation and disposal, and the integration of hygiene education into daily school routines. Despite being new to the program, the school demonstrated promising practices and a strong willingness to improve.

Learners actively participated during the validation process, confidently demonstrating proper handwashing techniques and awareness of hygiene practices—an indication of the school’s growing culture of health and discipline.

The activity also highlighted the vital role of collaboration among teachers, parents, and community stakeholders in sustaining a safe and health-supportive school environment. While the results of the validation are yet to be released, Los Amigos Elementary School remains optimistic, viewing the experience not just as a step toward recognition but as a meaningful opportunity for growth and continuous improvement in delivering quality, learner-centered education.

𝐀 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞

What started as a day of nerves and anticipation took a heartwarming turn that reminded everyone of the true essence of teaching.

During the Demonstration Teaching of Teacher I Applicants at Los Amigos Elementary School, Tugbok West District, Brgy. Los Amigos, Davao City, on March 4, 2026, one applicant was fully focused on her demonstration teaching while her baby was being cared for by others. When the infant began crying, several teachers took turns trying to soothe the child, but the baby remained distressed and grew increasingly exhausted.

It was then that Teacher Jherelyn L. Bedia, a Grade 1 teacher at Los Amigos Elementary School and a mother herself, stepped in. Recognizing the situation and responding with empathy, she breastfed the baby, calming the child almost immediately. Moments later, the baby peacefully fell asleep.

The act of kindness did more than soothe a child—it also lifted the heart of a mother striving to achieve her dream of becoming a Teacher I. “Being a teacher goes beyond the classroom; it is about having a genuine heart to care for others,” said Sir Jim Boy E. Tubigon, Principal III, reflecting on Ma’am Bedia’s selfless gesture.

Colleagues and students alike witnessed a moment that highlighted the power of compassion, patience, and humanity in education. “A true educator teaches not only with the mind but with the heart,” one teacher noted.

Los Amigos Elementary School proudly salutes Ma’am Jherelyn L. Bedia for demonstrating that kindness and care are as important as knowledge and skill in shaping lives.

A District Reading Evaluation was successfully conducted on February 26 and 27, 2026, at Los Amigos Elementary School as part of the district’s continuous effort to monitor and enhance learners’ reading proficiency. The activity was spearheaded by the Tugbok West Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS), Rosalinda D. Cabig, PhD. and actively supported by the school principal, Sir Jim Boy E. Tubigon.

The evaluation aimed to assess the reading levels, comprehension skills, and overall literacy development of the learners. School heads from the different schools in the Tugbok West District served as evaluators, ensuring an objective and comprehensive assessment process. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort of the district in promoting quality education and strengthening reading programs across schools.

During the evaluation, selected learners from various grade levels actively participated in the reading assessment. The evaluators carefully observed each learner’s performance and documented their findings to identify strengths and areas needing improvement. The learners demonstrated enthusiasm and cooperation, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing a culture of reading excellence.

Following the assessment, a post-conference was conducted between the evaluators and the respective class advisers. Beyond the Rain, Beyond the Monuments: LAES Heroes Park Shines in High-Stakes Division Validation

February 18, 2026 – Braving unfavorable weather conditions, Los Amigos Elementary School (LAES) successfully underwent the Division Validation for the Search for Best Heroes Park, proving that excellence stands firm—rain or shine.

The validation was conducted by Dr. Jed Bete and Ma'am Harriete Roseos, who lauded the school’s well-maintained, informative, and learner-centered Heroes Park. The validators commended its strong classroom integration, the confidence of learners in presenting the significance of the heroes, and the evident unity of the entire school community.

According to Dr. Jed Bete, “The teaching in the Heroes Park is not limited to Araling Panlipunan—it is evident across all learning areas through various stations. This approach is highly commendable as the park effectively integrates lessons from multiple subjects, making it a dynamic, multi-disciplinary learning environment.”

The initiative thrived under the leadership of Sir Jim Boy Tubigon and Sir Alejandro Sa-ang, with the coordinatorship of Master Teacher Bermie Anora. It was actively supported by Aral Pan Teachers Rowena Panaligan, Elvie Edquilla, and Reverisa Asumbrado, and strengthened through the collaboration of LAES teachers, parents, and learners.

Parents, headed by Ma’am Shella Santander, demonstrated unwavering support, while learners—led by former SELG President Nova Bader—showcased confidence and pride in presenting the park’s educational value.

Living up to its mantra, “Beyond Monuments: LAES – A Living Paradise of Learning,” the Heroes Park stands as more than a display—it is a dynamic symbol of patriotism, teamwork, and excellence. The positive feedback from the validators affirmed that LAES has transformed its park into a vibrant learning haven that truly embodies unity and love for country.
