April 16, 2026 | 3rd year Microbiology students from the University of Southern Mindanao Kabacan visited the Lactic Acid Fermentation and Purification Laboratory at UP Mindanao for an industrial tour.
A total of 38 students, accompanied by 4 faculty members, spent the afternoon exploring the practical applications of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology. The visit was arranged as part of their MicroB 11 course, aiming to bridge classroom concepts with real-world laboratory practices.
The students were able to visit the laboratory facilities where key equipment and processes were showcased, along with a short demonstration on how the equipment are used in actual operations. The team also introduced the laboratoryโs available services, giving students an overview of how they can access and benefit from theseโfrom lab testing to other technical support services. This hands-on exposure, together with a short lecture on microbial processes in industry, enriched their learning experience and connected their microbiology concepts to real-world applications.
For the third time, our office continues host USM Kabacan by providing meaningful industry exposure and showcasing our laboratory capabilities and services. We remain open to future collaborations and learning engagements at the UP Mindanao Lactic Acid Fermentation and Purification Lab.
