The City Mayorโ€™s Office โ€“ Special Office for Childrenโ€™s Concerns (SOCC) warmly welcomed ENS Nick Clarence M. Gallego, PN, a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Graduating Class of 2026, during a courtesy visit.

ENS Gallego previously served as a Child Representative of Barangay Paciano Bangoy from 2016 to 2018, where he actively participated in promoting child rights and welfare in Davao City. His journey from child leader to PMA graduate serves as an inspiration to young people, demonstrating the impact of meaningful child participation and leadership development.

He was accompanied by his father and Kgwd. Judith Albor of Barangay Paciano Bangoy during the visit.

The SOCC proudly celebrates the achievements of its former child representatives and wishes ENS Gallego success as he embarks on his journey of service to the nation. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญโœจ

The City Mayorโ€™s Office โ€“ Special Office for Childrenโ€™s Concerns (SOCC) facilitated the two-day Midterm Evaluation of the Davao City Development Plan and Investment Program for Children (DCDPIPC) 2026โ€“2028 cm Capacity Building for Davao City Council for the Protection of Children (DCCPC) Members on May 20โ€“21, 2026, at the World Palace Hotel, Davao City.

The activity was attended by DCCPC members together with Hon. Richlyn N. Justol-Baguilod, Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Children, and Family Relations and Vice Chairperson of the DCCPC. ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป

A series of workshops were conducted to help council members monitor, assess, and revisit the implementation progress of various plans, programs, and activities for children across Davao City, further strengthening collaboration and commitment toward child-friendly governance and child protection initiatives. ๐Ÿงธ๐ŸŒˆ

The two-day activity also featured discussions on Girl Child Week and Child Sexual Abuse Prevention by Ms. Jeanette L. Ampog, Executive Director of Talikala Inc., as well as the proposed revisions to the Davao City Unified Referral System on Child Protection, presented by Ms. Gerlyn V. Arciaga, SOCC Officer-in-Charge.โœจ

The activity gathered Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) chairpersons, focal persons, and representatives from across the Third District, strengthening local capacities to uphold and protect childrenโ€™s rights at all times, especially during emergencies. โš ๏ธโ›‘๏ธ

The City Mayorโ€™s Office โ€“ Special Office for Childrenโ€™s Concerns (SOCC) successfully conducted a two-day Capacity Building Activity for City-Level Child Sectoral Representatives on April 22โ€“23, 2026, at the World Palace Hotel in Davao City. The activity gathered child representatives from various sectors across the city, providing them with a platform to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and leadership capacities. ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿป

The children engaged in informative sessions on the Roles and Functions of City-Level Child Representatives and Gender and Development (GAD) Concepts, facilitated by Ms. Gerlyn V. Arciaga, SOCC Officer-in-Charge. This was followed by discussions on Parliamentary Rules and Procedures and Republic Act 7610 also known as the "Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act," facilitated by Mr. Neil Adrian C. Javier, TSO II of SOCC. ๐Ÿ’™

Additionally, sessions on Disaster Preparedness and Response were conducted by Mr. Fritz Reginald A. Hernandez and Mr. Nelson L. Mende from the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DCDRRMO), equipping the children with essential knowledge and skills to respond to emergencies and disasters. โ›‘๏ธ๐Ÿšจ

The activity successfully enhanced the children's understanding of their roles as child leaders and advocates, while strengthening their confidence, leadership skills, and sense of responsibility. More importantly, empowering them to actively participate in decision-making processes and take part in building safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly communities in Davao City. โœจ

During the meeting, council members conducted the validation of the data requirements and Means of Verification (MOVs) to be uploaded to the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) โ€“ Knowledge Management System (KMS) in preparation for the 2026 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with national standards. ๐Ÿ“‘๐Ÿ’™

The Davao City Council for the Protection of Children (DCCPC) Executive Committee held its 1st Quarterly Meeting on March 31, 2026, at the City Mayorโ€™s Office Conference Room, City Hall Building. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป

During the meeting, council members discussed key updates, including preparations for the 2026 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Assessment and the 2026 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA). They also tackled the amended Childrenโ€™s Welfare Code, the localization of Republic Act No. 11930 (Anti-OSAEC and Anti-CSAEM Law), the proposed Davao City Child Protection Policy (CPP), and the operationalization of the SOCC Analytics and Reporting (SOAR) Database Management System for Children, all aimed at further strengthening child protection programs and initiatives in Davao City. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

The Special Office for Childrenโ€™s Concerns (SOCC) facilitated the 1st Quarter Meeting of the Davao City Council for the Protection of Children โ€“ Technical Working Group (DCCPCโ€“TWG) on March 27, 2026, at the DCIPC Conference Room. ๐Ÿ’™

During the meeting, the TWG revisited the Davao City Unified Referral System on Child Protection to clarify procedures, identify areas for improvement, and discuss updates to further strengthen coordination and service delivery for children in need of special protection. ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿง’
