The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region XI proudly participated in the Opening Ceremony of THE UNITY FEST: The 2nd Annual Peacetival 2026, themed “Kurban for Peace: Strengthening Social Cohesion through Service and Solidarity,” spearheaded by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) XI and held on June 3, 2026, at The Annex Event Center, SM City Davao.

Representing DICT Region XI, Regional Director Evamay Dela Rosa joined fellow government agencies, development partners, stakeholders, and community leaders in advancing the shared vision of peace, unity, and inclusive development across the region.

In recognition of the Department’s valuable support and partnership in promoting peacebuilding and community development initiatives in partnership with NCMF XI, DICT Region XI was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation during the program.

On June 2, 2026, the Department of Information and Communications Technology Davao Oriental, through its ICT Literacy and Competency Development initiatives, successfully conducted the "𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟎𝟏 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐬" training in the City of Mati in partnership with the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office – LGU City of Mati.

The training strengthened the digital capabilities of participating MSMEs through sessions on the basics of smartphone use, including navigation, camera functions, and product photography techniques. They also explored how to access and maximize online platforms such as social media, Google, and YouTube for learning and business promotion. The activity concluded with a discussion on internet safety and cyber hygiene, helping participants understand how to protect themselves and their businesses online.

The program concluded with inspiring closing remarks from Mr Ace Melmark C. Arles, MBA, OIC of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, who emphasized the importance of digital readiness and continuous learning in strengthening local enterprises.

Through the combined efforts of DICT Davao Oriental and the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, local entrepreneurs were provided with valuable knowledge and tools to navigate the digital landscape. Together, we continue to support MSMEs as drivers of innovation, economic growth, and community development.

LEVEL UP YOUR AGENCY’S DATA PRIVACY READINESS: Face-to-Face Training on the Data Privacy Protection Competency Framework

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region XI invites government personnel to a 16-hour face-to-face training on the Data Privacy Protection Competency Framework on June 15–16, 2026 (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily). This course is designed to equip participants with a solid understanding of R.A. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and global privacy standards.

The training is highly recommended for:
• Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Directors, Heads, and Managers
• Those who are or will become Personal Information Controllers (PIC) or Personal Information Processors (PIP)
• Data Protection Officers (DPOs) obligated by data privacy rules
• Personnel directly responsible for web application security, IT operations, CERT teams, or cybercrime documentation – especially those who manage, protect, or investigate digital assets.

Course Content:
• R.A. 10173 – Data Privacy Act of 2012: Goals, Objectives, Roles, Accountability, and Responsibility
• Global Practice Standards to Guide the Implementation of R.A. 10173
• Data Privacy and Information Security Risks Management
• Data Privacy and Security Control Policies
• Breach and Security Incident Management

By the end of this training, participants will be better equipped to implement data privacy measures, manage security incidents, and ensure legal compliance – thereby strengthening public trust and protecting citizen data.
