DA XI - Gender and Development Program

| 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐖- 𝐍𝐓𝐂 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 📝|
The SORW- National Techincal Committee evaluates and documents our National entry to the National Search for Outstanding Rural Women - “Gawad Parangal sa Katangi-tanging Kababaehan sa Kanayunan”.

Ms. Marivic C. Dubria, our finest entry this year is an empowered woman coffee farmer, and is leading her fellow community members to produce award-winning coffee on the foothill of Mt Apo. Thus, out of 14 entries, she was one of the listed national finalist of the DA’s Search for Outstanding Rural Women and compete for the top spot against other seven contenders all over the Philippines . Result of the search will be announced on December 5, 2023.

𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗗𝗟 | Thirty Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL) from Sto. Tomas Correctional Institution for Women - Mindanao benefited from a two-day gardening training and outreach program conducted by the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal System of the Department of Agriculture - Davao Region.

Deputy Chief Josefina Katigbak lauded the effort exerted by DA-11 team for choosing their correction institution as beneficiary of GAD-sponsored project in commemoration of the National Women’s Month celebration.

DA-GAD Focal Person Joedel Leliza encouraged the women PDL to produce cash crops such as vegetables for their own consumption at the same time they can generate income.

“We can make use of our extra time to plant vegetable so that you can produce your own food and you can also sell your product for extra income,” Leliza said.

The project is a preliminary step for the establishment of future partnership with the facility to make the endeavour sustainable.

The Department of Agriculture will be providing assistance on hands-on urban gardening and develop one particular area as techno demo with free soil sampling and testing. Seeds and fertilizer will also be provided through DA’s regular programs.

Aside from the training, participants also received hygiene kits, vegetable seeds, and other personal gifts. The National Dairy Authority (NDA) also supported the outreach by providing dairy milk products. via Eve Gicole Deligero

DA XI GAD Program commends the effort of the GFPS Technical Members for the full support since Day 1. We will hammer through this rough path. Victory is always possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting.

Department of Agriculture Region XI GAD Focal Point System joins the early walk/parade in celebration of International Women's Day, spearheaded by the Integrated Gender and Development Division of Davao City. Other participants are women leaders and representatives from national agencies and local government who joined the march starting at Freedom Park to Rizal Park followed by a short programme.

Two (2) representatives from the Office of the Regional Executive Director (ORED) dominated the recently concluded 1st DA XI Women Win Quiz Bee. Out of 8 participating divisions and three rounds,
𝓓𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓵𝔂 𝓐𝓷𝓷 𝓐𝓷𝓭𝓪𝔂𝓪 and 𝓖𝓮𝓻𝓵𝓲 𝓕𝓮 𝓛𝓪𝔃𝓪𝓰𝓪 emerged as Champion with Parrah Ladiao and Venus Santander from Field Operations Division, and Hannah Calisay and Eman J. Dignadice of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division clinching the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

Women Win Quiz Bee is part of the 113th National Women’s Month Celebration of DA XI. It highlights the importance of having knowledge and understanding on Gender and Development concept and the significance of International Women’s Day celebration. The event was co-sponsored by Department of Agriculture Employees Association
