The meeting focused on key agenda items including the Annual Budget Review, budget allocations per committee, and the lineup of activities to be implemented throughout the year. One of the major highlights discussed was the much-anticipated Araw ng Barangay Sports League, which is set to be one of this year’s flagship programs.

Among the important matters tackled were:
•The schedule for the submission of requirements for the Araw ng Barangay Sports League
•Preparations for the Socio-Cultural Activity – Mutya ng Wangan
•Deliberations on prizes and awards for all Sports League winners

Also present during the meeting were Sir Jayson Salinas and Arch. Renz Marion representing Spectrum Productions, who presented significant proposals for the SK’s upcoming and future events.

The SK Officials of Barangay Wangan remain committed to organizing and successfully implementing all planned activities for the year. SUPER LATE UPDATE! 🎄✨

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Wangan successfully conducted its Year-End Evaluation and Christmas Gathering last December 26–27, 2025 at Canibad Adventures Beach Resort, Barangay Aundanao, Samal District, Island Garden City of Samal.

This meaningful activity aimed to assess and evaluate all programs and activities implemented throughout 2025, spearheaded by the SK Officials of Barangay Wangan. The event was attended by all SK Officials led by SK Chairperson Hon. Honey Lorie C. Peter, together with her dedicated SK Council Members. Youth representatives from the different Puroks were also present to actively participate, share insights, and contribute to the discussions.

During the evaluation, the SK Officials openly discussed areas for improvement, consolidated youth concerns and suggestions, and laid out future plans, especially as this marks the final term of the current SK administration. Rest assured, your voices were heard—and your concerns were taken seriously as part of our commitment to serve the youth of Barangay Wangan better.

The activity concluded successfully and meaningfully, filled with camaraderie, fun, reflection, and insightful discussions, reinforcing the SK’s dedication to the young people of our barangay.

The SK Officials of Barangay Wangan, through its Committee on Health, Health Services, and Reproductive Health led by SK Kagawad Jhunryl Bonghanoy-Orit, RSW, successfully organized an Awareness Campaign on Understanding HIV Prevention and Reproductive Health held on December 11, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

This activity is both timely and relevant. Davao Region is among the top 5 regions with the highest cases of HIV/AIDS. With this, the SK Officials of Barangay Wangan remain committed to helping prevent the dangerous and fast spread of HIV/AIDS.

We were honored this afternoon by the presence of Mr. Jey Macalawa, a Trained Peer Educator of the National Office of the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines, the Chairperson of the Health Committee of the Local Youth Development Council, and Youth Representative of the Davao City AIDS Council. His experiences, expertise, and valuable insights made the awareness campaign meaningful and successful. His discussion created an open and safe space for students to listen, learn, and engage. The forum was full of insights, interest, and learnings that raised awareness among the participants.

More or less 200 students from Junior High and Senior High School attended the symposium.

The SK Officials of Barangay Wangan, led by SK Chairperson Hon. Honey Lorie C. Peter and Committee Head on Health, Health Services, and Reproductive Health Hon. Jhunryl Bonghanoy-Orit, extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Barangay Council headed by PB Danilo M. Ababon, Wangan National High School Principal Mr. Jersam M. Bangcot and the faculty members, all participating students, the Scouts of Wangan NHS, Barangay Wangan Responders, and all individuals who helped make this activity successful.

📸 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍: The Office of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Wangan, through its Committee on Anti-Drug Abuse and Social Protection, has successfully conducted its annual Anti-Drug Symposium at Wangan National High School.

This initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of the SK Officials in promoting youth welfare and awareness within the community. Around 200 students from Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 actively participated in the symposium.

The SK Officials of Barangay Wangan extend their heartfelt gratitude to Wangan National High School, School Principal Mr. Jersam Bangcot, and the dedicated faculty members—and most especially, the students—for their cooperation and support.

We also sincerely thank the Philippine National Police Station 10 – Calinan, particularly PCpl. Zinjie Mutia, SCAD and Action Non-Commissioned Police Officer, as well as the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, especially Sir Floro Castillo III, for sharing their expertise and delivering insightful discussions on these important topics.

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Wangan, in partnership with the Department of Health – SPMC Blood Production Services, proudly conducted their annual Blood Donation Drive last December 5 at the Barangay Wangan Gym.

This year’s activity yielded around 30 bags of lifesaving blood, generously donated by volunteers and carefully collected by the DOH–SPMC Blood Bank Team.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the constituents of Barangay Wangan who selflessly shared a part of themselves to help save lives. Your spirit of compassion and volunteerism truly makes a difference. Our sincere thanks also go to the dedicated DOH–SPMC Blood Production Services Team—our doctors, medical technologists, and other health professionals—for their unwavering assistance throughout the activity.

We also recognize the full support of the Barangay Council of Wangan, headed by PB Danilo M. Ababon, along with Barangay Nurse Ruby Romen, our Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Volunteer Workers (BVW), Barangay Wangan Responders, and all individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the success of this meaningful endeavor.

On September 28, 2025, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Officials of Barangay Wangan successfully conducted their annual Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) Assembly and a community-wide clean-up drive with around 50 youth constituents in attendance.

The KK Assembly served as a platform for the SK Council to present their accomplishments and milestones for the past year. Each SK member proudly reported on the progress and achievements under their respective committees. In addition, the assembly served as a venue for unveiling their proposed programs and activities for Fiscal Year 2026, reinforcing their commitment to transparent and inclusive youth leadership.

More importantly, the event encouraged active participation and dialogue as attendees were given the opportunity to raise concerns, share suggestions, and engage directly with their youth leaders. As a gesture of appreciation, school supplies were distributed to all participants.

Simultaneously, a clean-up drive was conducted to instill in the youth the importance of environmental responsibility. This activity aimed to strengthen their involvement in ecological care and promote a clean, green, and sustainable community.

The success of the event was reflected in the enthusiasm and smiles of the young participants. The SK Officials of Barangay Wangan extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the youth who actively took part in the assembly and clean-up drive. They hope to see even greater participation in future events as they continue to empower and uplift the voices of the youth in the barangay.
