Furthermore, the advent of globalization has facilitated international trade, which made possible the transnational movement of goods and, as a result, the building of transnational relationships. As producers and enterprises face numerous opportunities and challenges in light of these increased interrelationships, there is a need to investigate the complex processes within agribusiness chains from management and economic perspectives. The University of the Philippines Mindanao, a research and public service university, aims to contribute to the ongoing academic conversation on this topic by organizing the International Conference on Agribusiness Economics and Management (ICAEM), with special focus on often marginalized sectors operating in emerging economies—from smallholder farmers in production to small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in processing and distribution, as well as all other involved sectors in between.
