MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL – More than 150 employers from various industries across Davao Oriental gathered for the Employers Forum on the JobStart Philippines Program, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with establishments that expressed their commitment to become official JobStart Partner Employers.

As the implementing agency of the JobStart Philippines Program in Davao Oriental, the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Davao Oriental through the Public Employment Service Office continues to spearhead initiatives that bridge the gap between education and employment through strategic partnerships with employers and industry stakeholders. For this year's implementation, the program aims to serve 70 JobStart beneficiaries, providing them with enhanced employability training, career guidance, and opportunities for internship and employment with partner establishments across the province.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Davao del Sur Field Office successfully conducted the Employers’ Forum on Updates on Labor Standards Concerns on June 04, 2026, at New Prangel’s Bakery and Restaurant, Digos City. The activity gathered employers and stakeholders from the land transport sector in Davao del Sur to provide timely updates on labor standards, wage systems, compliance guidelines, and social protection programs.

The forum was graced by Senior LEO Celia G. Duo, who delivered the opening and closing remarks. Valuable discussions were led by Senior LEO Harlie May T. Pedroso, on General Labor Standards; RTWPB XI Senior LEO Maris V. Tabusares, on the Two-Tiered Wage System and other wage schemes; JRP-Senior Analyst Raymund G. Pumbo, on employer responsibilities, legal obligations, SSS benefits, and EC coverage; Administrative Aide VI Marianie P. Sarsaba, on PhilHealth benefits and programs; and Member Services Officer III Ray Jun A. Ebrano, on Pag-IBIG benefits and programs.

Through the active participation of employers and partner agencies, the forum strengthened collaboration, clarified compliance concerns, and reinforced the shared commitment to decent work, workers’ rights, and sustainable business operations in the land transport sector.

DOLE Davao del Sur remains committed to supporting local employers through information-driven activities that promote responsible employment practices and a more protected workforce.

Following building clearance and confirmation of safety, activities will resume tomorrow, June 9, 2026.

In light of the recent earthquake and subsequent aftershocks, please be informed that the TAV scheduled this afternoon, June 8, 2026, at the 7th Floor, DOLE XI Building, Quimpo Boulevard, Davao City, has been suspended.

All invited establishments that have confirmed their attendance may opt to participate in the next scheduled TAV activities on June 23 or 24, 2026, at the same venue.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC | Following the magnitude 7 earthquake that struck General Santos City and nearby provinces, including the Davao Region, today, June 8, 2026, work in all DOLE offices across the region has been SUSPENDED.

Pursuant to Labor Advisory No. 15, Series of 2025, DOLE reminds employers that work suspension may be implemented to safeguard the safety and health of employees during weather disturbances and similar occurrences. The Advisory also clarifies the rules on payment of wages and emphasizes that affected employees shall not be held liable in cases where they fail or refuse to report for work.
