DAVAO REGION OPENS 2026 SEARCH FOR OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEERS (SOV)

"The Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) serves as the flagship event of National Volunteer Month (NVM), which is celebrated every December in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 55, series of 1998. In line with Republic Act No. 9418, also known as the Volunteer Act of 2007, PNVSCA has adopted this initiative to actively promote volunteerism as a catalyst for development.

The Search is open to individuals and organizations currently providing volunteer assistance in the Philippines that include individuals of Filipino citizenship, Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international non-profit organizations, and Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international corporate organizations."

Ms. Moon Young Mi, a Korean Overseas Volunteer (KOV), together with TESDA XI Regional Training Center – Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) coordinator, Ms. Jasminne N. Omalza and KOICA representatives, Ms. Kathrina Gonzales and Ms. Cho Hyeyoon visited the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Regional Office XI on August 11, 2026 for a courtesy call and briefing on the Region’s Profile."

LOOK | From Assessment to Action: Building the Recovery Roadmap for Earthquake-Hit Communities in Davao Occidental

"To help guide rehabilitation efforts for communities in Davao Occidental affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Maasim, Sarangani Province, the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) XI, together with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) XI, convened local government units and partner agencies for a two-day Workshop for the Formulation of the Rehabilitation and Recovery Program (RRP) on August 12-13, 2026, in Davao City.

Drawing from the results of the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), participants reviewed the earthquake's impacts on the municipalities of Sarangani, Jose Abad Santos, Don Marcelino, Santa Maria, and Malita, and worked collaboratively to refine rehabilitation and recovery frameworks across key sectors. Discussions focused on identifying priority programs, projects, and activities, as well as implementation timelines and financing options that will support the recovery and rebuilding efforts of affected communities."

Strong monitoring drives better governance.

The 2024 DavPrIME Best City Project Monitoring Committee recognized the Davao City Project Monitoring Committee for its commitment to timely project monitoring and continuous innovation.

Through the adoption of the Davao City Planning Information System, the committee modernized project tracking across more than 50 local government offices, streamlining monitoring processes and supporting more efficient, data-driven decision-making.
