Charlie Battery 2nd Field Artillery Battalion Philippine Army Conducts Platoon Gunnery Evaluation

In a bid to enhance the skills and readiness of its personnel, the Charlie Battery, 2nd Field Artillery Battalion, Army Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army conducted comprehensive Platoon Gunnery Evaluation to their line Platoons, on May 23, 2025.

Led by 1LT JOHN PHILIP D CONCEPCION (ART) PA, Battery Commander of C/2FAB. The evaluation team consisted of Technical Sergeant Cesar C Veligaño (Art) PA, Battery First Sergeant, and Sergeant Nicanor L Lagare (Art) PA. The team assessed the capabilities and competency of the four (4) Firing Platoons in Gunnery Drills through Fire Direction Center (FDC) operations, and Gun Laying.

The evaluation aimed to test the proficiency and preparedness of personnel to the line Platoons in artillery operations. After a thorough assessment, the personnel can be deemed ready and capable of performing their duties

This initiative underscores the Philippine Army's commitment to maintaining high standards of operational readiness and effectiveness in its artillery units. By conducting evaluations, the Charlie Battery 2nd Field Artillery Battalion Philippine Army ensures that its personnel are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.

On 27 March 2025, the successful completion of Battery SWEEP CY 2025 marked a significant milestone for Charlie Battery, with the leadership of 1LT JOHN PHILIP D CONCEPCION (ART) PA, Battery Commander, demonstrating their readiness and capabilities in various aspects of military operations.
COL CALIXTO D CADANO JR, Group Commander of the 11th Regional Community Defense Group (11RCDG), Reserve Command (RESCOM), Philippine Army (PA), presided over the closing ceremony of Charlie Battery Sustain Warfighting Enhancement and Evaluation Program (SWEEP) CY 2025 as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
As the Guest of Honor and Speaker (GOHAS) and Group Commander of 11RCDG, the presence of COL CADANO emphasized the importance of the training and underscored the role of the Reserve Command in supporting the Philippine Army's missions. The ceremony highlighted the collaborative efforts of this unit in promoting military excellence and operational readiness as well as the significance of teamwork and cooperation in achieving common goals.
The ceremony took place at Sitio Malantao, Brgy Halapitan, San Fernando, Bukidnon, and was attended by representatives from Headquarters 2nd Field Artillery Battalion (2FAB), led by LTC HAROLD P VILLAVIZA ART (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 2FAB.
