📣 ANNOUNCEMENT | Ramadan Basketball League Opening Ceremony

We are pleased to announce that the Opening Ceremony of the Ramadan Basketball League will be held on April 6, 2026 (Monday) at Davao Recreation Center ( formerly Almendras Gym). The program proper will start at exactly 10:00 AM.

All qualified teams are required to attend, as the game schedule and matchups for April 6, 2026 will also be officially announced on the same day.

We also encourage and invite all Dabawenyos to come, watch, and support this exciting and lively basketball league!

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte for his support in making this program possible and successful.

The Davao City Muslim Affairs Office respectfully invites the Muslim community to participate in the Eid’l Fitr 1447H Moonsighting Activity, in observance of the Sunnah for the determination of the end of Ramadhan and the commencement of Eid’l Fitr.

This activity aims to foster unity, spiritual fulfillment, and communal gratitude as we conclude the blessed month of Ramadhan.

An official announcement on the celebration of Eid’l Fitr will be issued following the moonsighting, in coordination with appropriate religious authorities.

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Davao Region, under the leadership of Regional Director Sherrila Porza-Sawah, uap, CESE, through the Socio-Economic Development Division headed by Acting Chief Engr. Nur-Ain E. Albani, attended the Davao Muslim Sector Group Round- Table Discussion on the Islamic Finance Ecosystem in the Philippines, held on March 6, 2026, at the Hotel Uno, Davao City.

The discussion kicked off with a warm welcoming address from Kagan Tribe Deputy Mayor Michael A. Mohamad, setting a collaborative tone. This was followed by the keynote speech from Mr. Clint (Bilal) Lloren, Takaful Division Head at Stronghold Takaful. Mr. Lloren highlighted the vital role of Islamic finance in the everyday lives of Muslim Filipinos, explaining how principles like risk-sharing (takaful) and ethical investing can seamlessly blend with modern economic activities while adhering to Islamic teachings.

Participants, including religious leaders, Muslim educators, employees from the Department of Education, Davao City Muslim Affairs Office, and NCMF representatives, showed strong interest in deepening these conversations. They focused on practical ways to educate communities about Shari’ah-compliant institutions such as Islamic banks emphasizing their benefits like fairness, transparency, and community upliftment to promote wider adoption.

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM WA RAHMATULLAHI WA BARAKATUH.

In celebration of Eid’l Fitr, the Davao City Muslim Affairs Office will conduct a Post-Ramadan Basketball League as part of its continuing effort to promote unity, brotherhood, and healthy engagement within the Muslim community.

The opening day of the games will be on April 6, 2026 at 12:00 noon, and the league will run until April 12, 2026, to be held at the Davao Recreational Center (formerly Almendras Gym), Davao City.

Interested teams are warmly encouraged to submit their team entries in advance, including the complete list of players and their respective jersey sizes.

Each team shall consist of fifteen (15) players, with a maximum of three (3) commercial/open players only, while the remaining twelve (12) players must be strictly residents of Davao City.

The deadline for the submission of team entries is on March 13, 2026. All team entries and requirements shall be submitted to the Davao City Muslim Affairs Office located at Magsaysay Park, Davao City.

The following requirements shall be submitted for each player:

• Biodata

• For Balik-Islam/Revert players – Conversion/Revert Documents

• Certification from the Imam of the mosque where the player regularly performs Salah/Jama’ah

• For the twelve (12) Davao City resident players – Barangay Certificate confirming residency

We look forward to the active participation and support of the community as we celebrate Eid’l Fitr through sportsmanship, camaraderie, and unity.

The Muslim community of Davao City is hereby informed of the official Prayer Schedule for Ramadhan 1447H (February–March 2026) issued by Darul Ifta Wadda’wah Association Region XI.

All are advised to be guided on the prescribed prayer times for proper observance of fasting and daily prayers.
