STRENGTHENING COLLABORATION

DARCES vision of becoming one of the agricultural training hub of the Region is strengthen through its collaboration efforts with the Regional Training Center, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI). A coordination meeting was held to discuss steps to institutionalize partnership between ATI & DARCES Training Services.

DARCES WELCOMES BUKIDNON FARMERS FOR LEARNING VISIT

Forty-five (45) farmers and agricultural workers from the Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (MAFC) of Don Carlos, Bukidnon, Region X, visited the Davao Region Central Experiment Station (DARCES) for a learning visit and exposure to the station’s agricultural projects.

During the visit, the participants explored DARCES’ poultry, livestock, and forage projects, featuring Upgraded Native Chicken, Itik Pinas, goat, sheep, cattle, and forage production technologies. The activity provided an avenue for the participants to learn from the station’s production practices and share their own experiences and insights in agriculture.

The visit facilitated knowledge sharing and exchange of agricultural technologies between the visiting farmers and DARCES.

EMPOWERING LIVELIHOOD GROUPS THROUGH PRACTICAL LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY FEEDING

A lecture on Proper Poultry and Livestock Feeding and Alternative Forage Sources, with emphasis on forage legumes, was conducted for the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Association Members of Barangay Manuel Guianga, Tugbok District through the collaboration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-SLP and the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office XI (DA-RFO XI)-DARCES.

The activity focused on proper feeding and the use of locally available and affordable forage resources. Participants learned how forage legumes can provide essential nutrients, help reduce feed costs, and support better animal health and productivity.

The lecture was facilitated by Ms. Dulce Amor Belleza of DARCES, who shared practical tips on proper feeding, forage utilization, and sustainable livestock and poultry production.

The activity highlighted the importance of agency collaboration in strengthening community livelihoods. By combining DSWD’s livelihood support with DA’s technical expertise, participants gained practical knowledge and skills to improve their livelihood projects and promote sustainable production.

Together, agencies can help communities build stronger, more productive, and sustainable livelihoods.

CASSAVA PLANTING MATERIALS DELIVERED

The DARCES successfully delivered 150 bundles of Kadabaw cassava planting materials on August 27, 2026, adding to the 600 bundles previously delivered in April 2026, for a total of 750 bundles. The planting materials were distributed to the Southern Highlanders and United Tribal of Melako, Inc., beneficiaries located in Barangay Sto. Niño, Talaingod, Davao del Norte, in support of the establishment of a 30-hectare cassava model farm. This initiative is a collaborative effort with the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office XI (DA-RFO XI) Corn Program, aimed at promoting cassava production and strengthening agricultural livelihood opportunities among the beneficiary communities.
