Continuity in Command, Commitment to Peace: Cagara Takes Over WESTMINCOM
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed Major General (MGen) Jose Vladimir R. Cagara PA as the Acting Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) during a Change of Command Ceremony held on August 17 at Camp General Basilio Navarro, Zamboanga City. The ceremony was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Antonio G. Nafarrete PA.
MGen Cagara, who previously served as Commander of the 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division, Philippine Army, officially succeeds Lieutenant General Donald M. Gumiran PA, who has also recently been installed as the Commanding General of the Philippine Army.
In his remarks, General Nafarrete underscored the significance of the leadership transition, noting that the change reflects WESTMINCOM’s continuing commitment to development, transformation, and security. “Today, we witness another progressive change in leadership that affirms WESTMINCOM’s ongoing commitment to development, transformation, and security, emphasizing our collective mission and achievements,” General Nafarrete said.
