The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) joined the Wagyu and Sorghum Forum on May 16, 2026, at The Ritz Hotel, Davao City, to promote agricultural insurance protection among livestock raisers and stakeholders in this growing sector.

The forum was organized by former Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel โ€œMannyโ€ Piรฑol and Australia-based cattle nutrition expert and Great Arch Farm owner Arnel Corpuz to promote wagyu cattle raising in the Philippines. PCIC attended upon the invitation of Piรฑol.

PCIC President Atty. Jovy C. Bernabe served as one of the speakers at the forum, where he discussed the agency's insurance programs and highlighted the importance of insurance protection for livestock raisers, especially those venturing into high-value cattle production such as Wagyu.

He emphasized that PCIC's Livestock Insurance program is designed to protect farmers and raisers against financial losses caused by the death of insured animals due to accidents and diseases, while presenting the corporationโ€™s accomplishment reports to reassure participants of its support.

Piรฑol expressed his support for PCIC and endorsed Atty. Bernabe's efforts to grow the corporation, urging forum participants interested in Wagyu cattle raising to insure their livestock with PCIC.

The forum gathered participants from the Wagyu cattle sector alongside stakeholders exploring the role of sorghum in livestock production and feed sustainability. PCIC's participation aimed to increase awareness of available insurance support for individuals and groups planning to enter or expand in Wagyu cattle raising.

The activity formed part of the corporation's broader commitment to extend insurance services across Philippine agriculture, including livestock production, as demand grows for higher-value agricultural ventures.
