As a ๐—ฃ๐—–๐—ช-๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—š๐—”๐—— ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—›๐˜‚๐—ฏ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฏโ€“๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ, the City Government of Davao has been recognized for its exemplary facilities, programs, and services that serve as enabling mechanisms for promoting gender-responsive local governance.

The delegation visited the Davao City's key GAD programs and facilities, namely the ๐—ฅ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—›๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐—น๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Region XI, the ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—–๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ under the City Social Welfare and Development Office, and the ๐—œ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—š๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐——๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป (๐—œ๐—š๐——๐——). The visit provided valuable insights into innovative GAD initiatives, survivor-centered interventions, child protection, inclusive services, and community-based approaches to addressing gender-based violence.

The learning session fostered meaningful discussions and reinforced the Committee's commitment to adopting responsive, inclusive, and gender-responsive programs across the region.

In observance of Womenโ€™s Month, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Davao Region reinforced its Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives through the simultaneous conduct of a Free Eye Check-up in partnership with AD Escala Optical Clinic, alongside an onsite Human Papillomavirus Deoxyribonucleic Acid (HPV-DNA) Self-Test in collaboration with the Davao City Health Office on March 26, 2026, at the DOST Davao Region Conference Room. The activities aimed to provide accessible, science-based health services to personnel, particularly women, including comprehensive eye assessments and a modern, less invasive screening method for cervical cancer prevention targeting women aged 30 to 49.
These initiatives highlight DOST Davao Regionโ€™s strong commitment to advancing gender-responsive and inclusive health programs under its GAD framework. The Department of Science and Technology โ€“ Davao Region proudly announces the official constitution of its Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE) Chapter, in line with the Philippine Commission on Womenโ€™s advocacy to eliminate all forms of Violence Against Women (VAW).

Led by ARD-REDID Dr. Nathan Ray A. Alim (Chairperson), together with Property and Supply Officer Mr. Alvin P. Justo (Vice-Chairperson), the MOVE Davao Region Chapter is composed of dedicated officers and members across DOST Davao Region Divisions and Provincial S&T Offices.

โ— Promote gender-sensitive workplace policies and respectful environments.
โ— Assist in reporting and referral mechanisms for VAW-related concerns.
โ— Participate in national and inter-agency MOVE activities spearheaded by PCW and partners.

On March 3, 2026, DOST Davao Region joined the ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—ข๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ตโ€‘๐—ง๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—–๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜† ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐— ๐—ข๐—ฉ๐—˜ ๐—ข๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€, officiated by DOST Secretary Renato U. This Womenโ€™s Month, the DOST Davao Region community wears purple every Wednesday in support of the campaign โ€œWE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.โ€
The color purple represents justice and dignity, and reminds us that advancing gender equality requires the participation of Women and Everyone (WE). Through Science, Technology, and Innovation, we continue to support inclusive opportunities and empower communities across the Davao Region.
