To further expand banana production and strengthen livelihood opportunities among farmer-beneficiaries in Manay, the Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program Davao Region delivered an additional 9,500 Banana Lakatan plantlets to the Matabang-Pagsayawan-Liloan Farmers Association (MAPALIFA) on April 16, 2026, in Barangay Taocanga, Manay.

The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program Davao successfully conducted a two-day Specialized Training on Corn Production and Management with emphasis on Sustainable Corn Production in Sloping Areas (SCoPSA) for twenty-five (25) members of the Ugnayan ng mga Magsasakang Lumad ng Trese in Barangay Tubaon, Tarragona, held on May 7–8, 2026.

Kilalanin si “Black Soldier Vanessa”… este, Black Soldier Fly (BSF)!

Ang BSF ay isa sa mga pinakamabisang tagapagproseso ng organikong basura sa kalikasan. Ang Larvae nito ay mataas sa protina at masustansiyang pakain para sa mga alagang manok, itik, at isda.

Bukod dito, nakatutulong ang BSF sa pagbabawas ng basura at pagpapababa ng carbon emissions. Dahil dito, nagiging mas sustenable, mas makakalikasan, at mas matipid ang produksyon ng pagkain.

Mula sa basura tungo sa pakinabang, ipinapakita ng BSF na sa kalikasan, walang nasasayang kapag ang mga yaman nito ay nagagamit nang wasto at responsable.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The Department of Agriculture in Davao Region officially launched its Gulayan sa DA initiative on June 1, 2026, at the DA compound in Davao City.

The initiative aims to promote sustainable vegetable gardening, food security, and healthy food production among participating offices and stakeholders.

The activity will also serve as a showcase of the agency’s commitment to advancing sustainable food security in the region, beginning within its own office spaces.

To ensure the effective enforcement of the mandated price ceiling for 5% broken imported rice, the Department of Agriculture 11 (DA-11) led an inspection at the Bankerohan Public Market today, June 1.

The local monitoring was part of the simultaneous nationwide market visit and compliance inspection directed by DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. The initiative was launched to address unjustified price hikes, prevent market abuse, and guarantee the availability of affordable rice for consumers while maintaining overall market stability.

The inspections are grounded in Executive Order No. 118, signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which imposes a strict Php 50 per kilogram price cap on 5% broken imported rice.

In the Davao Region, the inspection was spearheaded by DA-11 Regional Executive Director Macario D. Gonzaga and Regional Technical Director for Operations Marie Ann M. Constantino. They were joined by the DA 11 Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) and the Field Operations Division–Rice Program. | via RAFIS11
