DAVAO REGION β The Department of Environment and Natural ResourcesβEnvironmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) XI reports that recent air quality monitoring across stations in Malita, Digos, and Calinan shows generally acceptable levels of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), despite the onset of haze affecting parts of the country.
Data collected from August 26 to September 1, 2026, indicate that Malita Station consistently recorded GOOD air quality, with PM10 and PM2.5 values well within safe thresholds. Meanwhile, Digos and Calinan Stations registered FAIR air quality levels, with occasional readings categorized as UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS, particularly for PM2.5 concentrations. These elevated values are attributed to transboundary haze episodes, likely originating from neighboring countries.
Health Advisory:
β’ The general public may continue outdoor activities under GOOD and FAIR conditions.
β’ Sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions, are advised to limit prolonged outdoor exposure during periods classified as UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS.
β’ The DENR-EMB XI reminds communities to remain vigilant and follow updates as haze conditions may cause fluctuations in air quality.
βWhile most monitoring stations report air quality within acceptable ranges, the presence of haze has led to localized increases in PM2.5. We urge sensitive groups to exercise caution and encourage the public to stay informed through official advisories.β, EMB XI Regional Director Alnulfo Alvarez, EnP emphasized.
The DENR-EMB XI continues to monitor air quality closely and will issue timely updates to safeguard public health and environmental integrity. For updates, visit EMB Davao Region, the official page of EMB XI.
