| Municipality of Manabo Embraces Digital Future with PalengQR PH Plus and Piso Caravan

Manabo, Abra – On June 16, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Abra, in partnership with local government units, BSP North Luzon Regional Office, DILG, and DICT, successfully rolled out additional PalengQR PH Plus and Piso Caravan in the Municipality of Manabo, Abra.

This initiative marks a significant step toward digital innovation, financial inclusion, and grassroots empowerment, ensuring that communities are equipped with modern tools for everyday transactions.

Local leaders joined hands with DTI, BSP, DICT, and DILG to champion cashless payments and financial literacy. Municipal Administrator of Manabo, Ms. Joana Ruth Domasing, led the community in embracing QR-based transactions. The activities gathered transport operators, market vendors, MSMEs, and residents, all eager to adopt digital platforms that make payments faster, safer, and more convenient.

The Piso Caravan complemented the launch by providing practical lessons on financial management, savings, and responsible use of digital tools. These sessions empowered participants to not only transact digitally but also to build stronger financial habits. With the support of financial service providers, the program highlighted the importance of proper money handling and the role of digital solutions in strengthening local economies.

The PalengQR PH Plus rollout in Abra demonstrates how innovation can reach even the most grassroots communities. By bridging traditional markets with digital platforms, the initiative is helping MSMEs expand their reach, transport drivers improve efficiency, and households gain access to secure financial services. Each municipality’s participation reflects a shared vision of progress—one that is inclusive, resilient, and future-ready.

As DTI Abra continues to collaborate with partner agencies and local governments, the province is setting an inspiring example of how digital transformation can uplift communities. The PalengQR PH Plus and Piso Caravan are not just programs; they are milestones in building a more connected and empowered Abra, where no Filipino is left behind in the digital economy. DTI Abra

| Strengthening Agrarian Enterprise Development through VLFED Project in San Juan

San Juan, Abra – On June 15, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Abra Provincial Office, led by Acting Provincial Director Marvin T. Arcangel, joined the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony for the Village Level Farm-focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) Project in San Juan, Abra. The project was launched for the Ba-ug Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC), marking another milestone in advancing agrarian reform beneficiaries toward sustainable enterprise development.

The VLFED Project is a key initiative under the DTI-DAR-DOST Synchronization Plan, which promotes integrated rural industrialization through inter-agency collaboration. DAR provides infrastructure and organizational support for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs), while DTI and DOST contribute business development, product standardization, and technology assistance to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

During the ceremony, Mr. Arcangel emphasized the importance of equipping the Ba-ug Farmers MPC with entrepreneurial skills and market linkages to transform agricultural yield into high-value commercial products. The partnership aims to strengthen farmers’ capacity to manage enterprises effectively and expand their access to broader markets.

Through this collaboration, government agencies reaffirm their shared commitment to empowering local farmers, promoting innovation, and building resilient rural communities. The formalized agreement serves as a foundation for sustainable agrarian enterprise growth and inclusive economic development in Abra. DTI Abra
