📍Philippine Archipelago

Throughout summer 2026, I Marine Expeditionary Force Marines and Sailors trained shoulder to shoulder with the Team AFP across the Philippine archipelago.

Through major exercises and persistent bilateral engagements, I MEF strengthened readiness and interoperability across command and control, maritime operations, fires, aviation, logistics and littoral maneuver.

From Marine Rotational Force - Southeast Asia, Marine Rotational Force-Darwin, and 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment to forces across the MAGTF, I MEF remains committed to strengthening the U.S.-Philippine alliance and building a more ready, capable and interoperable force.

Strengthening Partnerships 🇵🇭🇺🇸

📍Cotabato City, Mindanao, Philippines

Service members with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin 26, participated in the closing ceremony for Marine Exercise 2026.

Col. Robert S. Bunn, commanding officer of Marine Rotational Force – Southeast Asia, attended the ceremony alongside Philippine military leaders, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation between U.S. and Philippine forces.

Throughout the exercise, Philippine and U.S. forces trained side-by-side to enhance interoperability, improve combined readiness, and strengthen their ability to operate together in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.

📍Mount Samat National Shrine of Valor, Bataan, Philippines

Marines and Sailors with Marine Rotational Force – Southeast Asia conducted a staff ride at the Mount Samat National Shrine of Valor and Battle of Bataan historical sites in honor of Memorial Day weekend. The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on the shared history and sacrifice between the United States and the Philippines.

Engagements like this reinforce the enduring U.S.-Philippine Alliance and remind us that today’s partnerships are built on generations of shared sacrifice, service, and commitment.

Shoulder-to-Shoulder During Balikatan & Every Day 🇺🇸🇵🇭

From real-world lifesaving response operations in Cagayan to distributed operations across the Philippine archipelago, U.S. and Philippine forces operated shoulder-to-shoulder during Exercise Balikatan 2026.

Across air, land, and sea domains, allied and partner forces executed maritime security operations, airfield seizures, sustainment operations, coastal defense, medical evacuation, and distributed logistics in one of the world’s most complex operating environments.

Balikatan 26 demonstrated the strength of the U.S.-Philippine alliance and the ability of a combined force to respond together whenever and wherever needed.
