♿ Promoting Accessibility and Inclusivity in General Santos City! ♿

The City Mayor’s Office – Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (CMO-PDAO), together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Office of the Building Official (OBO), City Engineer’s Office (CEO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the General Santos City PWD Federation, successfully conducted an Accessibility Audit of PWD-Friendly Establishments in the city.

This initiative is in line with Ordinance No. 47, Series of 2022, also known as the PWD-Friendly Establishments Award Ordinance of the City of General Santos, which aims to recognize and encourage establishments that uphold accessibility standards and provide inclusive services for persons with disabilities.

Through this collaborative effort, the audit team assessed establishments to ensure compliance with accessibility requirements and to promote a more inclusive, barrier-free, and disability-friendly environment for all.

The Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), in collaboration with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), proudly initiated the Bread Making Training for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

This meaningful program aims to empower and equip our PWD community with practical baking skills, opening opportunities for livelihood, self-sufficiency, and personal growth.

Through this initiative, participants are encouraged to discover their potential, build confidence, and create brighter opportunities for the future.

📢 LOOK | Basic Filipino Sign Language Training for LGU Frontline Personnel

The Local Government Unit of General Santos City, through the City Mayor’s Office Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office, successfully conducted a Basic Filipino Sign Language Training on April 27, 2026 at the City Agriculture Training Center.

This meaningful initiative aimed to empower frontline personnel from various offices of LGU General Santos City with the knowledge and skills to communicate more effectively and responsibly with the Deaf community, ensuring inclusive, accessible, and responsive public service for all.

The training was facilitated by Sign Language Interpreter Pastor Charlon Jamero, who shared valuable insights and practical lessons in Basic Filipino Sign Language.

2nd Quarter PWD Federation Meeting | Inklusyon

The 2nd Quarter Meeting of the PWD Federation Inklusyon was successfully held at Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Barangay Captain Ryan Dupalco for his support and warm accommodation, as well as to Nurse Mark Suban (CHO) for his valuable participation.

This meeting highlights our continued commitment to strengthen collaboration, promote inclusivity, and address the needs and welfare of persons with disabilities in the community.

A Commendable Act of Service 👏

The General Santos City Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) extends its sincere appreciation to Barangay Bula and PWD President, Mr. Alex Tordesillas, for their strong coordination and unwavering support to the PWD community.

Through their efforts, mortuary assistance was extended to a PWD member, providing much-needed support to the bereaved family during a difficult time.

This meaningful initiative reflects compassion, unity, and genuine public service proving that even in times of loss, the community stands together to uplift one another.
