⚓️Protecting Our Shores :Coastal Clean-Up Drive 🌊

The Marine Environmental Protection Group Southern Mindanao through MEP Unit Western Sarangani (MEPU Western) , in joint efforts with CGSS Maasim , CGSS Colon , personnels from BFP Maasim , Maasim MPS , MDRRMO Maasim , PANHUA Integrated Steel Corporation , ABBAH King Cement Corporation and students and teachers from Datu Mulod Integrated School , conducted coastal clean-up drive in collaboration with Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Maasim at Brgy Lumatil Maasim Sarangani Province on 28 August 2026 at 6 o'clock in the morning.

Twenty four (24) sacks of assorted debris were collected with an approximately 4,000 meters shoreline covered.

Healthy oceans start with clean shorelines ! ❤️

🌊 JOIN FORCES FOR A CLEANER OCEAN 🌊

Demonstrating a shared commitment to marine conservation, Marine Environmental Protection Group Southern Mindanao (MEPG-SM) together with MEPU-GENSAN , MSFIU-SM , VCA-SM, CGDSM personnel ,CGSS Gensan , CGSS Tambler, RHIB-DS , SOG-SM, stakeholders from Rotary Club General Santos City Chapter, Tuna Port and local volunteers successfully conducted a Coastal Clean-up and Scubasurero Operation at South Bay , Brgy Dadiangas General Santos City ON 28 0600H August 2026.

Through the combined efforts of surface clean-up volunteers on the shoreline and divers from SOG-SM and MSFIU-SM “Scubasurero’s” , the team retrieved Forty (40) sacks of marine debris and non-biodegradable waste from the coastal and water areas.

This joint operations highlights the collaboration between maritime authorities and civic organizations in protecting our coastal ecosystems , preserving local marine life and keeping our public beaches clean for the community.

General Santos City - Demonstrating a shared commitment to marine environmental preservation , MEP Group Southern Mindanao together with MEPU Gensan , CGDSM , CGSS Tambler , CGSS Bawing , LGU of Brgy Bawing and Bantay Dagat successfully conducted Coastal-Clean Up drive along the shoreline of Prk Lito Brgy Bawing , General Santos City on 06 June 2026.

Working hand-in-hand , the team gathered 20sacks of assorted debris , composed mainly of non-biodegradable plastics.

This activity aims not onyl to clear marine liter but also to raise environmental awareness among coastal residents about the critical importance of proper waste management.

In a powerful demonstration of community spirit and shared responsibility , MEP Group Southern Mindanao together with MEPU Gensan , MEPU Eastern , MEPU-Western and CGDSM personnel participated in Brigada Eskwela 2026 theme “𝘽𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣: 𝙉𝙖𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙆𝙖𝙖𝙮𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙩 𝙆𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣".

This initiative aims to support public schools across General Santos City and Sarangani Provinces - ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students ahead of the the upcoming school year opening.

Adhering to the DepEd annual call for school maintenance and preparation , Southern Mindanao Coast Guardians deployed to multiple schools - “Jose C Catlico Sr Elem School , Jose P Laurel Elem School , Banwalan Elem School , Lagao Central Elem School, Ricvill Integrated School , Balunto Elementary School , Labangal Elem, Labangal Elementary School , ..."

Over the course of the week-long implementation , personnel traded their usual duties for paintbrushes, hammers and cleaning tools working side-by-side with teachers, parents and local volunteers.

Alongside of primary mandates of maritime safety,security and environmental protection , Philippine Coast Guard actively engage in civil-military operations to foster community development and support public education initiatives.
