Feb 25, 2026 | The Local Government Unit - City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO) of General Santos City successfully conducted the Pre-Membership Education Seminar (PMES) for a potential cooperative that is into crops production.

The activity provided these crops producers with essential knowledge on cooperative principles, values, organizational structure, and operational guidelines. It also highlighted the responsibilities and commitments required in establishing and managing a cooperative effectively.

Through this initiative, CCDO continues to guide and support association in their journey toward becoming registered and sustainable cooperatives, ensuring that they are well-prepared and compliant with existing policies and standards.

Back-to-back Task Force Meetings were conducted by the City Cooperatives Development Office (CCDO) on January 30, 2026, at the CEMCDO Conference Room to discuss updates, action plans, and strategies to ensure the continuity of the Task Forces’ initiatives.

In the morning session, the Task Force on Cooperative Housing, together with Councilor Dom Lagare III and Engr. Ronald B. Nuneza of the City Housing and Land Management Office (CHLMO), held productive discussions on cooperative housing programs. The meeting focused on program objectives, current challenges, policy alignment, and collaborative strategies to strengthen housing support and access for cooperatives.

In the afternoon session, the Task Force on Cooperative Bank reviewed action plans and next steps, focusing on coordination and strategic directions for the proposed cooperative banking initiative.

Productive discussions and shared commitments toward empowering cooperatives and sustaining inclusive development.

The LADOTRANSCO Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) successfully held the oath-taking ceremony of its newly elected officers on January 28, 2026.

The significant occasion was administered by the LTFRB Regional Director, Atty. Pablito Benedian, who formally led the oath of office, signifying the official assumption of duties and responsibilities of the cooperative’s new leadership.

The presence of representatives from City Cooperative Development Office and LTFRB highlighted the importance of strong cooperation between transport cooperatives and government agencies in promoting responsible and efficient public transportation services.

The ceremony marked a new chapter for LADOTRANSCO MPC as it reinforces its commitment to good governance, unity, and service to its members and the riding public.

The City Cooperative Development Office (LGU-CCDO) together with the Cooperative Development Authority XII (CDA XII) facilitated the re-orientation and provided technical assistance to cooperatives from non-compliance, guiding them toward corrective actions and regulatory compliance, while clarifying regulatory requirements, addressing operational gaps, and strengthening their capacity to meet statutory and governance standards.

The City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO) recently hosted a successful Cooperative Pre-Registration Seminar (PRS) at the CEMCDO Conference Room. This essential training was conducted in close partnership with the Cooperative Development Authority XII (CDA), marking a vital first step for local groups transitioning into formal entities.

Event Highlights

The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of cooperative principles, legislative requirements, and the operational responsibilities of future members.

• Total Attendance: 70 Participants
• Gender Distribution: 33 Female | 37 Male

Strengthening Local Economy

By equipping these five associations with the legal and organizational knowledge required for registration, CCDO and the CDA XII are fostering a more inclusive and sustainable local economy. The balanced participation of both men and women underscores a community-wide commitment to collective growth and shared prosperity.

On January 27, 2026, OSD MPC as the big brother cooperative, demonstrated cooperativism in action by officially donating essential computer equipment to Dadiangas Credit Cooperative, their small brother cooperative, through the Koop Kapatid Mentorship Program, a flagship initiative focused on strengthening cooperative growth, resilience, and long-term sustainability.

The donation aimed to enhance Dadiangas Credit Cooperative’s operational efficiency and capacity to deliver faster, more reliable services to its members.

A Resilient Unity: Celebrating Cooperative Month 2025

October 25, 2025 | The Local Government Unit of General Santos City, under the dynamic leadership of the Honorable City Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao, through the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO) headed by Dr. Leonard V. Flores, CESE, EnP, has successfully concluded the Cooperative Month Celebration 2025 in partnership with the General Santos Cooperative Federation (GENCOFED), the City Cooperative Development Council (CCDC), and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

This year’s celebration carried the theme: “Matatag na Kooperatiba: Kaagapay sa Pagsulong ng Ekonomiya at Pagharap sa Hamon ng Pagbabago.” The theme highlights the crucial role of cooperatives in sustaining economic growth and adapting to the challenges of change — reflecting the unity, resilience, and commitment that continue to strengthen the cooperative movement.

A Culmination of Strength and Solidarity — The Culmination Event, held at the KCC Convention Center, served as a vibrant gathering of cooperatives across the city — a true celebration of collaboration, empowerment, and community spirit. The program featured engaging activities and meaningful exchanges that showcased the achievements, creativity, and dedication of our cooperative members.

Highlights of the celebration included:

🎶 Choir Competition — A heartwarming display of unity and harmony as cooperative members performed inspiring songs that celebrated cooperation, hope, and shared purpose.
💃 Retro Dance Competition — A lively and colorful dance showdown that brought back the classic grooves of the past, filling the venue with energy, nostalgia, and camaraderie.

Recognizing Excellence and Commitment — During the event, various cooperatives were recognized for their outstanding participation and contributions throughout the month-long celebration.
