Mindanao State UniversityโGeneral Santos formally marked a milestone in academic development with the turnover of the Junior High School Building under the College of Education Training Department (CETD) on May 4, 2026.
The ceremony was attended by university officials, faculty members, and stakeholders, who joined in celebrating the completion of the facility. The event underscored the institutionโs continuing commitment to strengthening its educational infrastructure and providing improved learning spaces for students.
Engr. Renante Magoncia, Director of CETD, conveyed his gratitude for the collective effort behind the initiative, noting that the edifice symbolized their shared vision, commitment to expanding opportunities for learners, and dedication to academic excellence and innovation.
Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas highlighted the universityโs unwavering pursuit of growth, affirming that the turnover exemplifies the administrationโs steadfast commitment to advancing academic excellence and development.
Prof. Randy P. Asturias, D. Engโg., Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Development, presented the project profile, highlighting the buildingโs role in strengthening MSUโs academic infrastructure. Representatives from HB Construction, the projectโs contractor, expressed their gratitude for the trust given by MSU-GenSan, promising continued dedication to excellence.
The said turnover marks not just the completion of a building, but the strengthening of MSUโs vision to empower young learners in General Santos City with better opportunities and brighter futures.

Enhancing Student Awareness on Personal Safety and Law Enforcement Support System

In response to the rising incidents of harassment experienced by studentsโparticularly involving tricycle and sikad drivers within the city and around the Fatima Campusโthe Office of Guidance and Counseling, in collaboration with the Center for Women Studies and the administration of the College of Education Training Department, organized a lecture-orientation on personal safety and law enforcement support systems intended for CETD students.
The session was facilitated by PCPL Justine Jay Loro of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) Precinct I. Her discussion focused on key legal frameworks, including the Anti-Bastos Law and the Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act. She also provided students with timely, practical strategies to ensure their safety during daily commutes.
In her closing message, PCPL Loro emphasized the importance of vigilance among the riding public and strongly encouraged the prompt reporting of incidents. She underscored that community cooperation plays a vital role in reducing criminality and promoting a safer environment for all.

The day began with a ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, where the students were oriented about the changes in the strengthened Senior High School curriculum. The tracks were streamlined into two main paths: the Academic Track and the Technical-Professional Track, helping us better understand our future choices. After the symposium, they proceeded with our exhibit preparations, putting effort into refining our presentations.

In the afternoon, the exhibit judging for Grade 9 and 10 took place, where each group showcased their creativity and teamwork. We also had talks from ๐ฑ๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐ and ๐ต๐ซ๐ซ๐ผ-๐ฐ๐ฉ๐ฌ๐ซ, sharing the opportunities in their SHS programs.
The day ended with the much-awaited ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐, where participants confidently showcased different careers. Congratulations to ๐ฑ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฝ๐๐๐๐ and ๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐ for standing out as winners! ๐
