Ever spotted an AH26 marker along EDSA or the Maharlika Highway and wondered what it means? The Philippines’ Pan-Philippine Highway, popularly known as the Maharlika Highway, is designated as Asian Highway 26 (AH26) under the Asian Highway Network.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) first installed AH26 route markers in 2013, placing them every eight kilometers along the route.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 “𝟭”? It identifies AH26 as the country’s primary national road route, highlighting its importance in connecting communities and facilitating travel across the Philippines.

This transport network connects roads, bridges, expressways, and ferry services from Laoag City to Zamboanga City.

Halloween imagery often portrays graveyards as places of decay, but dead organisms support essential ecological processes.

A necrophage is an organism that consumes dead animals or biological tissues. Examples include vultures, carrion beetles, and fly larvae that feed on carcasses. By consuming dead matter, these organisms help accelerate decomposition and transfer nutrients through food webs.

Necrophages differ from decomposers such as many bacteria and fungi, which chemically break down organic material and absorb the resulting nutrients.

Though associated with death, necrophages play a vital role in ecosystem health.

You'll probably see the yellow posts with numbers and letters on the roadside. They are the kilometer markers that help us determine where we are! How?

The letter below shows the first letter of the immediate next town and the the accompanying number tells you your distance from that town.

It's also good to know that 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗠 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟬, and vice versa.

Nomophobia, short for “no-mobile-phone phobia,” describes the anxiety associated with being without access to a mobile phone.

People experiencing it may feel distressed when their battery runs low, their signal disappears, or they leave their device behind. In an increasingly connected world, smartphones help us communicate, work, and access information. However, excessive dependence on them can make being disconnected feel uncomfortable or frightening.

Although nomophobia is widely discussed, it is not a formally recognized diagnosis in major diagnostic manuals. Its impact highlights the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with technology.

𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗱! While humans rely on iron-rich haemoglobin to transport oxygen, some animals have copper-based haemocyanin that makes their blood blue. Other organisms have green or violet blood due to different respiratory pigments.

These colourful variations showcase evolution’s diverse solutions to transporting oxygen throughout living organisms.
