On February 06, 2026, the Coast Guard Station Eastern Sarangani (CGSES), together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Alegado successfully conducted an Information Drive on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Memorandum Circular No. 2007-001, otherwise known as the β€œSafety, Security, and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System for all Philippine registered vessels and watercraft”

The activity was held at Dadang Beach, Brgy. Gumasa, Glan, Sarangani Province, and was attended by local fisherfolk, boat owners, and operators, in close coordination with the Local Government Unit of Brgy. Gumasa.

The information drive highlighted the importance of SSEN registration as a vital measure in promoting maritime safety and security, ensuring proper vessel identification, and enhancing the efficiency of search and rescue operations during maritime emergencies. Moreover, SSEN contributes to the protection of the marine environment by strengthening vessel monitoring and accountability.

Through this initiative, CGSES reaffirmed its commitment to educating coastal communities, fostering compliance with maritime regulations, and safeguarding lives, property, and the marine environment within Sarangani Bay.
