VILLAFUERTE ADDRESSES AIRPORT EXPANSION DISPUTE, RESPONDS TO LEGACION CRITICISM

CAMARINES SUR — Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte Jr. has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the proposed expansion of the province’s airport, while responding to criticisms raised by 3rd District Representative Nelson Legacion.

In an interview with DZRH, Villafuerte said efforts to secure the land required for the airport expansion had been underway even before Legacion became involved in the issue.

The governor identified land acquisition as a key requirement for the project to proceed, emphasizing that the expansion cannot move forward without the necessary property.

“Kung walang lupa, wala ding airport,” Villafuerte said.

Villafuerte also said the project could have progressed more quickly if it had not encountered opposition from individuals critical of the proposed development. He specifically referred to a lawyer who is the spouse of Legacion.

The governor maintained that the provincial government remains willing to coordinate with various sectors and government officials to advance the airport project and other infrastructure initiatives in Camarines Sur.

He called for greater cooperation among elected officials, saying public disagreements should not overshadow efforts to address the concerns of residents.

Villafuerte also urged Legacion to focus on issues affecting constituents in the 3rd Congressional District, stressing that elected officials have distinct responsibilities to the communities they represent.

The governor further said that while criticisms may be directed at him personally or in his capacity as governor, such disagreements should not be used to discredit the provincial government or the province as a whole.

Meanwhile, Villafuerte said the provincial government would continue implementing its programs, public services and infrastructure projects, which he said are aimed at generating employment, supporting the local economy and improving the quality of life of Camarines Sur residents.

The statements come amid continuing public exchanges among local officials over major infrastructure projects in the province, particularly the proposed airport expansion and the land acquisition issues surrounding it.

GOV LRAY VILLAFUERTE: CAMSUR HAS EVERYTHING TO BECOME A WORLD-CLASS TOURISM DESTINATION

CAMARINES SUR, Philippines — Camarines Sur is positioning itself for a bigger role in Philippine tourism as the provincial government promotes the province not only as a destination for travelers, but also as a potential hub for investments, businesses and tourism development.

The province, known for its beaches, mountains, lakes, rivers and adventure attractions, is being presented as a destination where visitors can experience many of the country’s most sought-after travel experiences without having to go from one province to another.

“Why travel from one destination to another when you can experience so much of the Philippines in one province?” the governor said, highlighting CamSur’s islands and pristine beaches, lakes, rivers and waterfalls, mountains, landscapes and world-class watersports.

But for Gov. Lray Villafuerte, promoting Camarines Sur is more than simply showcasing scenic destinations.

“As Governor, I believe my responsibility goes beyond governing. I must also be one of the province’s biggest promoters—developing CamSur, talking about CamSur, marketing CamSur, and making sure that Filipinos and the rest of the world discover what we have to offer,” the governor said.

According to the governor, the province’s tourism push is anchored on confidence in CamSur’s people, natural resources and long-term potential.

“Because I believe in this province. I believe in its people. I believe in its beauty. And most importantly, I believe in its potential,” the governor said.

Camarines Sur has previously demonstrated its capacity to attract tourists and establish itself as one of the country’s emerging tourism destinations. The provincial government now aims to build on that experience with an even broader vision for the future.

“We have already shown before that CamSur can become one of the country’s most exciting tourism destinations. Now, our vision is even bigger,” the governor said.

The province’s ambition extends beyond increasing tourist arrivals. The government wants CamSur to become a place where visitors return, investors establish businesses, developers build new projects and communities create opportunities for long-term growth.

“We want to continue to build a world-class CamSur—a destination people don’t simply visit, but a place they want to return to, invest in, build businesses in and grow with,” the governor said.

As part of this vision, the provincial government is extending an invitation to investors, developers, hotel and resort groups, tourism operators, entrepreneurs and global brands to explore opportunities in the province.

“Come and see CamSur. See what we see,” the governor said. “The natural assets are here. The destinations are here. The opportunities are here. And a Provincial Government ready to work with serious investors and partners is here.”

The governor also issued a direct invitation to travelers and the business community.

“To our tourists: Come experience CamSur,” the governor said. “To our investors: Come build the future of CamSur with us.”

The province, the governor added, is prepared to take the next step in its tourism and economic development journey.

“We are ready to develop. We are ready to compete. And we are ready to show the world what CamSur can become.”

With its combination of natural attractions, adventure tourism, culture, food and investment potential, the province is putting forward a simple message: Camarines Sur has much of what travelers and investors seek—and there is still more to come.

CAMSUR — ALL HERE. AND MORE. ❤️
