๐๐๐๐: 5 Entrep studes take home Green Innovation award at RYEC โ26
Five BS Entrepreneurship students from ParSU took home the Best in Green Innovation Team award during the 12th Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Congress (RYEC) 2026 held on Oct. 1โ2, 2026, at Fuerte CamSur Sports Complex in Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur.
The team consisted of Kristine Guevarra, Kennex Angel Celetaria, Xena Loquias, Jhon Paul Lombe, and Lorence Rivera presented a business concept featuring a plant-based alternative to animal leather, aimed to address concerns related to agricultural waste, dependence on imported leather, and animal exploitation.
Team leader Guevarra said in an interview that their group only began developing and polishing their presentation on the first day of the event, spending the night communicating online to assign tasks, and refining their pitch for the following day.
โThat competition convinced me that we, the BSENT students, are capable of so much more. We are not meant to shrink to the expectations of other people about us,โ she said.
Guevarra attributed the teamโs performance to their confidence in one another and their ability to maximize available resources in developing their strategy.
The panel primarily raised questions about the proposed product and later expressed interest in its potential development, including a possible partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Innovation Hub.
Meanwhile, the university had three teams in the Design Thinking Innovation Challenge, competing with 16 participating schools, where they were asked to develop and present business concepts addressing real-world problems.
The event was organized by the Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (CSCCI), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur and the DOST Region V.
