The Local Government Unit of Gonzaga, headed by Municipal Mayor Engr. Rellie S. Dalmaceda, ASEAN Engr., joined the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in conducting a tree growing activity on September 25, 2026, at Sitio Bagsang, Barangay Sta. Clara, Gonzaga. Mayor Dalmaceda led the activity in person, alongside Vice Mayor Hon. Sherryl Anne C. Gaspar, heads of various LGU departments, and the Mr. and Ms. Teen Gonzaga Organization Batch 2026.

Participants planted golden shower, narra, coffee, and bamboo seedlings across the site, chosen for their value to both the local ecosystem and the community's livelihood. Narra and golden shower help restore forest cover and prevent soil erosion, coffee supports farmers with a sustainable income source, and bamboo protects riverbanks while offering material for local crafts and construction.

The activity forms part of the municipality's push to strengthen tourism accessibility along the Mt. Cagua jump-off, a growing draw for hikers and nature travelers in the region. Beyond the immediate goal, tree planting builds long-term climate resilience by reducing the risk of landslides and flooding, improving air quality, and preserving watersheds that Gonzaga's barangays depend on for water supply.

Through this partnership with the OVP, the LGU reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, and encourages Gonzaganians to take part in similar initiatives that safeguard the municipality's natural resources for future generations.
