Climate change continues to affect farmersโ productivity, which in turn impacts their livelihoods and sources of income. That is why the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Quezon II, through the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Program (CRFPSP)โSustainable Livelihood Support for Disaster-Affected Areas (SLSDAA), conducted several training sessions and hands-on farm practices to help farmers adapt to climate change impacts.
After months of training and hands-on farming practices, 35 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) from the MASSCO Farmers Marketing Cooperative officially completed the program. Beyond the knowledge and skills they gained, the farmers also reaped additional income from the vegetables they grew as part of the project, while gaining the confidence and skills needed to adopt modern farming practices suited to changing climate conditions.
OIC-PARPO II Ma. Gemma A. Esguerra expressed her gratitude, during the graduation ceremony, to the farmers for their willingness and active participation in the project. โ
This is a new start for the ARBs, they embodied modern practices and learned how to adopt the changes. These may not be their usual farm practices, but it is a start of commitment to sustaining the farming industry.
โAng pagtatapos na ito ay simbolo ng bagong kaalaman, kakayahan at pag-asa, kaya naman ipagdiwang ang bunga ng pagtutulungan at pagsisikap ninyo.โ OIC-PARPO I Engr. Marvin C. Labao stated.
Meanwhile, Lopez, Quezon Municipal Agriculture Officer Rebecca Tiama, representing Municipal Mayor Isaias B. Ubana II, stated that as technology continues to advance and climate change continues, our farmers should not be left behind. That is why we support programs like these and remain committed to assisting and empowering you every step of the way.
DAR Quezon II has planted the seeds of knowledge and skills for modern farming practices suited to the challenges of climate change. As the training comes to an end, the seedlings they have nurtured gradually begin to flourishโsymbolizing their growing capacity to improve their farming practices and, ultimately, reap the harvest of a more resilient and prosperous life for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries.
