Iloilo Province officially kicks off the celebration of National Womenโs Month, highlighting the strength, leadership, and invaluable contributions of women across the province.
The opening program was led by Vice Governor Nathalie Ann Debuque and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, who reaffirmed the provincial governmentโs commitment to gender equality, womenโs empowerment, and inclusive development.
The month-long celebration aims to recognize the vital role of women in community-building and nation-building, while promoting programs that support their rights and welfare.

The Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC) successfully convened the 2026 1st Quarter Provincial Research, Development, and Innovations Committee (PRDIC) Meeting and Call for Proposals.
We believe that robust R&D is the backbone of a thriving provincial economy. By aligning research with the Province's Six Development Goals, we are turning "Big Ideas" into "Concrete Projects" for every Ilonggo.
By supporting new research proposals and tracking current projects, we ensure that every provincial program is backed by data and driven by innovation.
We are bringing together 60 key participants, including the PRDIC, the Advisory Council (NGAs, R&D Consortia), and leading members from the Academe and Private Sector. Together, through the MoRProGRes ILOILO movement, we are building a robust, progressive, and globally competitive province!

Various national and local government agencies convened for the Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting on Vehicular Incident Response Protocol on January 30, 2026, at the Iloilo Gateway Hotel and Suites in Pavia, Iloilo, in line with Executive Order No. 111, Series of 2025. The activity aimed to strengthen coordination and ensure a unified response to road and vehicular incidents across the province.
Organized by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the meeting featured presentations from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Provincial Health Office (PHO), and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs), highlighting agency-specific roles in traffic management, rescue and extrication, medical response, and localized coordination.
Participants also engaged in productive discussions to harmonize protocols, identify operational gaps, and discuss next steps, including the proposed creation of a Technical Working Group (TWG).
This initiative underscores the provinceโs commitment to road safety, preparedness, and unified emergency response, ensuring faster, safer, and more effective action during vehicular incidents.

The Local Government Unit of Oton, through its Office of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO), headed by Ms. Menchie G. Paniergo, hosted a small group meeting that gathered concerned government offices and private sector representative to discuss the agenda for the first meeting of the newly constituted Iloilo Batiano River Management Council (IBRMC).
Enacted through a Municipal Ordinance and reinforced by a corresponding Executive Order, the IBRMC aims to provide a coordinated, multi-sectoral governance mechanism for the sustainable management, rehabilitation, and protection of the Batiano River system.
With the Batiano River identified for rehabilitation under the Balik Batiano Program led by the Office of the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Officer (OPGENRO), and with the integration of the Purok Resilience Program, Oton is positioning itself to align local initiatives with provincial strategies that strengthen environmental protection, disaster resilience, and community participation.
The meeting was participated in by representatives from the Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (OPDRRMO), the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), the OPGENRO represented by Ms. Mitzi Peรฑaflorida, Head of the Environmental Program Management Services Division and private sector representative Dr. Nicanor Babiera, who provided guidance to the LGU on the IBRMC organizational structure and the alignment of Batiano River related programs and initiatives.

Provincial Research, Development and Innovations Year-End Assessment 2025: Strategizing for Iloilo's Development Goals
The Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), specifically the Research and Statistics Section, has successfully completed its Provincial Research, Development and Innovations Year-End Assessment for 2025. This activity serves to solidify the province's foundation for economic growth, driven by effective and strategic Research and Development (R&D).
We gathered the Iloilo Provincial Research, Development and Innovation Committee Members to conduct a thorough review of R&D investments. Our primary focus is ensuring these investments yield concrete, beneficial projects that are in complete alignment with the Province's six overarching Development Goals.

R&D Accountability (Phase I):
Comprehensive updates on the successful completion of R&D projects funded for our State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
Implementation Status:
Reviewed and confirmed the status and necessary alignment for all revised projects.
Acknowledging Excellence:
We proudly recognized the winning team from the Start-Up Hackathon 2025 (ISAT-U and WVSU), highlighting local innovation capacity.
Forward Planning:
Productive discussions advanced the status of the Proposed Fund for Phase II and defined key collaborative efforts for long-term R&D sustainability.
The OPPDC is committed to channeling collaborative research into tangible, progressive projects for an innovative Iloilo. We look forward to the seamless transition of these investments into on-the-ground action for our beneficiaries!
