A proud and historic moment for the Ati community of Sitio Kati-kati , San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras!
This recognition strengthens the protection of Ati culture and affirms their rights under Section 32 of the Indigenous Peoplesโ Rights Act (IPRA). SEC. 32. Community Intellectual Rights. - ICCs/IPs have the right to practice and revitalize their own cultural traditions and customs. The State shall presence, protect and develop the past, present and future manifestations of their cultures as well as the right to the restitution of cultural, intellectual religious, and spiritual property taken without their free and prior informed consent or in violation of their laws, traditions and customs.
A heartfelt thank you to Hon. SB Member Christian Infante for sponsoring this meaningful ordinance and for continuously supporting the recognition of Ati cultural heritage. Likewise, sincere appreciation to the LGU of Jordan, headed by Municipal Mayor Hon. Atty. John Edward Gando, for standing with the Ati community in protecting and promoting Indigenous traditions.

The NCIP expresses its deepest sympathies to the family of former Speaker of the House of Representatives Jose de Venecia Jr. (1936
During his tenure as Speaker, the Indigenous Peoplesโ Rights Billโnow the Indigenous Peoplesโ Rights Act (IPRA)โwas passed into law. His leadership, vision, and solidarity helped give voice to communities long unheard and laid the groundwork for justice, dignity, and self-determination for Indigenous Peoples.
We honor his life, his service, and his enduring contributions to the countryโs development.
May he find eternal repose.
