STRENGTHENING UNITY IN RESPONSE: FIRST DISTRICT DRRMO PREPARES FOR ITDOEX 2026

On this day, May 29, 2026 (Friday), the First Congressional District of Iloilo DRRMO convened a crucial Coordination Meeting at the Miagao Operations Center in preparation for the upcoming Interagency Territorial Defense Operations Exercise (ITDOEX), set to take place this June in the Municipalities of Miagao and San Joaquin.

The meeting served as a vital platform for strengthening interoperability, synchronizing response protocols, and ensuring a unified command approach among all participating disaster risk reduction and emergency response units across the district.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Tigbauan, together with other municipalities under the First Congressional District of Iloilo, reaffirmed their full commitment—pledging manpower, logistics, and operational resources—to ensure the success of this high-level interagency exercise.

This is more than a preparatory meeting—it is a declaration of readiness and solidarity. ITDOEX represents a critical step in fortifying our collective capability to respond to complex emergencies, disasters, and security-related contingencies with precision, discipline, and coordination.

As challenges grow more unpredictable, the strength of our response lies in unity, preparedness, and unwavering collaboration across all agencies and local government units.

A coordination meeting was successfully conducted with Barangays Bagacay and Danao in preparation for the deployment of the BERT – Barangay Emergency Response Team, medical personnel from the Primary Care Facility (PCF), and the TERT – Tigbauan Emergency Rescue Team for the upcoming 1st Tigbauan Enduro Fest “Western Visayas Enduro Series Leg 3” scheduled on May 31, 2026 (Sunday).

The meeting was attended by key officials from both barangays together with PCF representative Midwife Cherry Columna, as the event falls under the jurisdiction of the Bagacay Health Station.

Discussions focused on the deployment of emergency responders, designated stations, identified areas of concern, contingency measures for the scheduled power interruption, radio communication plans, water distribution to the barangays and school venue for the opening program, establishment of hydration stations, and other important preparations to ensure the safety and welfare of all participants and spectators during the event.

This collaborative effort reflects the commitment of all involved agencies and barangays in ensuring a safe, organized, and well-coordinated Enduro Fest.

🔥 FIRE INCIDENT RESPONSE | Sitio Tabuc Danao, Brgy. Bitas, Tigbauan, Iloilo 🔥

This afternoon, a fire incident occurred at Sitio Tabuc Danao, Barangay Bitas, Tigbauan, Iloilo, resulting in one (1) residential house being totally damaged by fire.

The incident was responded to by the Tigbauan Emergency Rescue Team – TERT together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Tigbauan. Responding teams immediately conducted fire suppression operations and ensured the safety of nearby residents to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent houses.

As of this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the concerned authorities.

PUBLIC SAFETY REMINDERS THIS SUMMER SEASON

With the extreme heat this summer season, everyone is reminded to practice fire safety and prevention measures:

✅ Avoid overloading extension cords and power strips
✅ Never leave cooking unattended
✅ Keep flammable materials away from heat sources
✅ Unplug appliances when not in use
✅ Keep matches and lighters away from children
✅ Prepare emergency exits and basic firefighting tools at home
✅ Immediately report any smoke or fire incident to authorities

𝗠𝗗𝗥𝗥𝗠𝗢 𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗕𝗔𝗨𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 14 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗬 𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠𝗦 (𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗧𝘀)

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Tigbauan successfully conducted Batch 14 of the Barangay Emergency Response Teams (BERTs) Training last May 26–27, 2026, participated in by representatives from Barangays Namocon, Poblacion 7, and Tan Pael.

The two-day training aimed to strengthen the preparedness and response capabilities of community-based emergency responders through lectures and practical exercises on disaster response, basic life support, first aid, emergency preparedness, and rescue operations. Participants were equipped with essential knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond during emergencies and disasters within their respective barangays.

This initiative forms part of the continuing commitment of MDRRMO Tigbauan to build resilient communities and empower local responders in promoting safety, preparedness, and disaster risk reduction at the grassroots level.
