Weather advisory update-July 17, 2025

As of 5 PM, the center of Tropical Depression CRISING was estimated based on all available data at 534 km East of Baler, Aurora. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, west northwestward at 30 km/h.

Iloilo City will experience light to moderate to at times occasional heavy rains due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by TD CRISING. The whole Visayas, will experience strong to moderate winds from Southwest to West with moderate to rough seas.

The next bulletin will be issued at 11:00 PM today.

As of 5 PM, DOST-PAGASA issued Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 12 and Weather Advisory No. 9, due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Tropical Depression CRISING. Iloilo City will experience light to moderate to with occasional heavy rains. Rainfall forecast from today, July 17, 2025 to tomorrow afternoon, July 18, 2025, a forecast rainfall of 100-200 mm which may cause numerous flooding events are likely, mainly in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near rivers. Landslide is likely in moderate to highly susceptible areas.

The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to MONITOR the weather condition and watch for the next warning to be issued at 11:00 PM today.

The most obvious pros of using social networks are the ability to instantly connect with people, know real-time news and information discovery, great opportunities for business owners, and for general fun and enjoyment. However, it is no secret that there's also a dark side in using social media platforms. There is the rise of misinformation and fake news. The freedom to post any content given to social media users, paired with the lack of accountability from social media platforms enabled the proliferation of fake news.
