𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐍 | 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Provincial Commitee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children and the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children successfully conducted a joint meeting to strengthen coordinated actions across sectors.

Key discussions included updates on Gender Based Violence, Trafficking in Persons, and Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children cases, as well as strategies to enhance monitoring, documentation, and LGU functionality in implementing VAWC related programs. The council also approved the conduct of Focus Group Discussions in selected municipalities this April 2026 to strengthen Barangay VAW Desks.

During the PCPC session, priority issues from the Children’s Congress were presented, alongside the review of the Draft Local Code for Children to ensure more responsive and child centered policies.

Western Visayas stakeholders are currently participating in a Shared Learning Session in collaboration with the Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office , focusing on the Overview of the LGU Incident Command System Structure and stakeholder roles in the Medical Emergency Response Package.

This activity is part of Project MedX, a flagship initiative of the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Philippines, aimed at strengthening multi-sector collaboration and enhancing preparedness for medical emergencies across Western Visayas.

The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the PGENRO , CRS IWARI and other partner agencies, successfully convened key stakeholders for the Water Stakeholders’ Summit at Days Hotel, Iloilo City.

Bringing together LGUs, regional agencies, and water sector partners, the summit served as a platform to align programs, share initiatives, and strengthen collaboration toward a water-secure and climate-resilient Iloilo.

Highlights included the presentation of the Iloilo Provincial Integrated Water Security Plan (IPIWSP), agency programs on water access and sustainability, and the distribution of support to LGUs for water-related projects.

𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲

The LDRRMP Plenary Review was successfully conducted at Casa Real de Iloilo, bringing together local DRRM officers and the Provincial Review Team to assess and strengthen local disaster risk reduction and management plans.

The activity focused on plan presentations, technical feedback, and consolidation of review results to further enhance preparedness and resilience across participating LGUs.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council convened its 1st Quarter Regular Meeting to align key disaster risk reduction priorities and strengthen coordination among member agencies.

Highlights included the 2026 Climate Outlook from DOST-PAGASA, updates on 2026 DRRM programs, and the approval of the PDRRM Plan 2026–2031. The Council also discussed the protection of the province’s radio repeater towers, transport concerns following the recent strike due to rising oil prices, and initial preparations for a possible El Niño toward the end of the year.

In response to the scheduled transport strike on Monday, March 23, the Iloilo Provincial Government will deploy its service vehicles to assist stranded passengers through its "Libreng Sakay" initiative.
