In line with the PNP Focus Agenda, under the leadership of PBGEN ROGELIO Z RAYMUNDO, JR, Director, PNP-EOD/K9 Group, personnel from the Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit Cordillera Administrative Region (RECU CAR) β PECU Benguet successfully conducted a proactive public safety and advocacy operation.
This initiative directly supports the Groupβs emphasis on community-oriented policing, preventive safety monitoring, and the mitigation of regulatory hazards within the scrap metal industry. Executing this mission, the personnel of the Forward Assist Team (FAST) Eastern PECU Benguet led by PEMS Donato Wallace, Team Leader, conducted a meticulous visitation and inspection of the Guinaoang J Junkshop located in Guinaoang, Mankayan, Benguet.
The EOD technicians systematically inspected the premises owned by Ms. Precivele Bintadan to check for the presence of any volatile Unexploded Ordnance (UXOs), Explosive Remnants of War (ERWs), or other commercial hazardous materials that often inadvertently enter the scrap metal stream. Beyond the physical security sweep, the team actively engaged the business owner in a vital educational dialogue, detailing the severe dangers associated with the mishandling of military ordnance and strongly advising immediate reporting to the unit should any suspicious items be encountered in the shop.
Following a thorough evaluation, the safety sweep successfully concluded with zero explosive ordnance or hazardous materials found on site, and the entire activity was completed with no untoward incidents.
