Social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, play a vital role in the dissemination of information. It has has changed the way we communicate, do business, get our daily news fix and so much more. The most obvious pros of using social networks are the ability to instantly connect with people, know real-time news and information discovery, great opportunities for business owners, and for general fun and enjoyment. However, it is no secret that there's also a dark side in using social media platforms. There is the rise of misinformation and fake news. The freedom to post any content given to social media users, paired with the lack of accountability from social media platforms enabled the proliferation of fake news. Maria Julie Ann Nuera of Barangay Jereos, Lapaz responsibly uses social media platforms and would like to stop or discredit fake news peddlers.

“Ang pag gamit sang social media sites naka impluwesya gid sang dako sa kada tawo. Halos tanan may mga social media accounts na. Damu man ang dala sini nga kaayuhan sa kada tawo pero may ara man dala nga indi kaayuhan. Bilang isa ka social media user adlaw adlaw ko ginagamit ang facebook para makita ang mga latest news or posts sang akon mga friends, messenger to communicate my family and friends kag tiktok to entertain. That three sites can give me crucial informations nga kis.a ang iban waay man kamatuoran. Naka depende man sa tawo if e-entertain nila ang mga wala pulos nga mga balita. So, para saakon best way na lang gid nga kung waay man pulos ang mga news stop disseminating na lang. You yourself can stop those fake news by not spreading it with your family and friends without knowing the truth. If ikaw man lang makadugang guba sang isa ka balita ng waay man kamatuoran better close your mouth.”

We all must learn how to responsibly exercise our freedom to post content on our respective platforms, in accordance with the right to free speech, and of expression. We encourage everyone to report or flag posts that are considered false or misleading and we must always put in mind to think before we click.

THE CALL FOR LIGTAS BALIK-ESKWELA! 📣📚

Covid-19 pandemic has brought many challenges and one of which is the access to inclusive and quality education. With the inevitable shift to online and modular classes, both have their own share of advantages and disadvantages. Students had to face an overwhelming increase in academic workload, internet connectivity issues, and lack of physical interaction with peers. This has brought a bigger question of what the goal of our education really is: for learning or for mere compliance?

This is why the call for “LIGTAS BALIK-ESKWELA” is at a height. This is an inclusive campaign that considers the welfare of students, teachers, and school staff by encouraging long-term, sustainable plans of action for education. In the simplest term, this pushes for a safe return to school despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Archie Mayormente of Barangay Jereos, Lapaz is one of those who wishes for face-to-face classes to resume.

Learning should not be equated to the number of tasks submitted on time, rather, it should mold students to reflect on the world around them, to go beyond their echo chambers, and challenge what they already know. Education will always be a right rather than a privilege.

PHILIPPINES RANKS 4th IN THE 31st SEA GAMES VIETNAM 2021!

As Team Philippines officially concluded the 31st Sea Games Vietnam 2021 with 52 Gold, 70 Silver, and 107 Bronze medals, this lead us to rank 4th Place among the 11 participating nations! We congratulate and greatly thank our athletes for bringing pride and honor to our country. Marvin J. Mamon, a sports enthusiasts from Barangay Jereos, Lapaz can testify how sports can help boost one’s confidence and promote camaraderie and sportsmanship.

“Dako nga dungog bilang isa ka ilonggo nga may kasimanwa kita nga nag hatag bugal sa iloilo sa larangan sang sports. Si Arnel Mandal isa sa mga atleta nga guin train sa idalom sa programa sang iloilo city goverment kag Iloilo City Sports division. Libre nga training sa tanan nga pamatan on nga may hilig sa anu man nga sports ang programa ni Mayor Jerry Treñas kag Rudiver Jungco nga sports academy dako guid nga bulig para ma develop pa ang talento sang mga ilonggo. Isa na di ang bunga sa kadalag an ni Arnel Mandal pamatu od nga ang aton gobyerno wala naga pabaya sa larangan sang sports nga maka hatag dungog sa ciudad. Ini nga programa dako guid nga bulig sa aton mga kabataan. Proud ako mangin ilonggo dala sa kadalag an ni Arnel Mandal kabay pa damo pa ilonggo ang mangibabaw kag makilala sa patag sang sports.Padayun ang aton pag uswag nd lng ang aton ciudad kundi pati ang aton personalidad kag talento.”
