Today, LMP Iloilo President Mayor Suzette A. Mamon, together with fellow local leaders and education partners, joined the “BES Basa: A POC Localization – Scaling Partnerships for Literacy” and the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement at Casa Real, Iloilo City.

The gathering underscored the collective resolve of Iloilo’s municipal mayors to prioritize literacy as a cornerstone of local development—ensuring that every child gains essential reading skills, every teacher is empowered, and every community benefits from a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Through unified leadership and sustained collaboration, the Municipal Mayors of Iloilo continue to champion education—because a literate child today builds a stronger, more progressive Iloilo tomorrow.

Demonstrating the strong spirit of solidarity among Iloilo leaders, mayors from across the province gathered for a fellowship dinner hosted by Third District Congressman Nonoy Defensor and Fourth District Congressman Ferj Biron.

The gathering brought together Iloilo’s municipal mayors alongside key provincial leaders, highlighting a shared commitment to cooperation and collective development for the province. Also present at the event were Former Congressman Mike Gorriceta and Second District Congresswoman Kathy Gorriceta, further reinforcing the united front of Iloilo’s leadership.

The dinner served as an opportunity for dialogue, camaraderie, and renewed commitment among the province’s leaders, reflecting the continuing call for “One Iloilo”—a vision of collaboration and partnership across districts and municipalities in advancing the welfare and progress of the Ilonggo people.

PASAY CITY — The 2026 General Assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) officially opened today at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport City, Pasay City, bringing together local chief executives from across the country.

A total of 33 mayors from the Province of Iloilo are participating in the four-day gathering, which runs from March 8 to 11, 2026. The assembly serves as a platform for municipal leaders to discuss key governance issues, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration among local government units.

The event is expected to feature policy discussions, development briefings, and strategic dialogues aimed at enhancing local governance and advancing sustainable municipal development. The strong participation of Iloilo’s municipal mayors underscores the province’s continued commitment to active engagement in national governance initiatives and collaborative leadership among LGUs.
