JOIN LIVE | Visayas Policy Research Forum (VPRF) Press Briefing

For the first time, the Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) brings the Visayas Policy Research Forum (VPRF) to Western Visayas today, September 22, in Iloilo City. This inaugural forum brings together policymakers, researchers, development partners, and other stakeholders to discuss research and policy issues relevant to regional development.

Carrying the 2026 DPRM theme, “Building Strong Institutions, Unlocking Human Capital Potential,” the forum focuses on how evidence-based policies, stronger institutions, and improved coordination can help address development priorities, strengthen human capital, and advance inclusive and sustainable development in Western Visayas.

This press briefing is joined by the officials of the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Region VI, in cooperation with the Socioeconomic Research Portal for the Philippines (SERP-P) of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), and the UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS).

DOTr, pinatitibay ang suporta sa sektor ng transportasyon 🚌⛽

Patuloy ang UPLIFT initiatives para maibsan ang epekto ng tumataas na fuel at operating costs, kabilang ang fare discounts, toll at terminal fee waivers, at targeted assistance para sa kwalipikadong drivers at operators.

DAGYAW–OGP: From Information to Participation, From Participation to Action

DAGYAW embodies the spirit of the Open Government Partnership (OGP)—bringing government and citizens together through meaningful dialogue, transparency, participation, accountability, and collaboration.

In Pototan, this commitment is strengthened through Project HIMAKAS (Household Information Management Key Assessment System), a locally developed household information and assessment system that helps the local government understand the actual conditions and needs of every household in its 50 barangays.

HIMAKAS provides the evidence, while DAGYAW provides the space for dialogue and collective action. Through validated community information, citizens and local government can identify priorities, discuss solutions, co-create responsive programs, and monitor actions that directly affect communities.

HIMAKAS tells us what our communities need; DAGYAW brings people together to decide what we can do about it.

A total of 273 Antiqueño beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program received financial assistance from the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO) during the Handog ng Pangulo 2026 event on September 14.

The activity aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide swift and timely delivery of social services to the people.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro G. Petinglay said that their office is ensuring prompt and efficient processing of the AICS assistance requests, such as for medical, burial, and other emergencies.
