𝐌𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌𝐂 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) of Sapian, Capiz completed the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Training held from September 29 to October 1, 2026, at Islands Hotel, Roxas City.

A total of 16 participants graduated from the training, which focused on strengthening their capacity to activate and manage an Emergency Operations Center and support coordinated information management, decision-making, and disaster response operations.

The UPV Balay-Balay Child Minding Center (BBCMC) in the Iloilo City and Miagao campuses conducted the training “Ready Together: Empowering Parents and Guardians for Gender-Responsive Disaster Preparedness” on 6 October 2026 at the GDP Conference Room, UPV Iloilo City campus.
Atty. Melissa P. Banias, OIC Chief of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Division of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region VI, served as the resource speaker for the training.
The activity aimed to strengthen the disaster preparedness of BBCMC parents and guardians by enhancing their awareness of potential hazards and equipping them with essential safety tips and life-saving strategies. The training also emphasized the importance of being prepared to effectively anticipate, respond to, and recover from emergencies and natural calamities, while promoting a gender-responsive and child-centered approach to disaster risk reduction and management

The Department of Health (DOH) calls on the public to step up preventive measures against heat-related illnesses as the effects of the El Niño phenomenon slowly intensify across the country.

This urgent health advisory aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for a proactive, whole-of-government approach to safeguard Filipinos from the adverse impacts of extreme weather conditions and climate change.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) previously issued an El Niño Alert, warning of below-normal rainfall that could trigger dry spells, droughts, and dangerously high temperatures towards the last quarter of 2026 and may extend until the first half of 2027.

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞-𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐱𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐎𝐂𝐃 𝐕𝐈

The Office of Civil Defense Region VI (OCD VI) turned over non-food items (NFIs) on October 6, 2026, for families affected by the fire incident in Brgy. Poblacion VIII, Roxas City, Capiz.

The NFIs were pulled out from Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, and transported to Roxas City for turnover to support the affected families.

The assistance included 11 Shelter Repair Kits, 21 Family Packs, and 21 Family Hygiene Kits to help address their immediate needs following the fire incident.

OCD VI continues to coordinate with local governments in providing timely assistance to disaster-affected communities.

The Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Training will prepare responders to locate, access, and rescue people trapped in collapsed structures. Through practical exercises, participants will develop technical skills and strengthen teamwork for coordinated lifesaving operations.
