"Last week we were at Iloilo for stakeholders meetings for the Conservation Master Plan of Iloilo's historic downtown. We were able to visit the now-completed Iloilo Provincial Civic Complex, which we had the great opportunity to be part of, and take some aerials.

You can see parts of the also newly-completed Esplanade - Phase 9 along the Iloilo River behind the complex (also based on our designs). Iloilo is showing the way in terms of civic and urban design. Our site planning, urban design and landscape architecture integrated four buildings from different decades of the 20th century (two pre-war buildings, and one each from the 70s and a 90s).

We also rationalised and improved the pedestrian circulation system, as well as parking and vehicular access. The effort led as well to reviving a lost park, the creation of an event and concert area, and integration of the complex with the esplanade. Last December Iloilo trees were planted in the park."

25 Recognized Digital Cities in the Philippines

A total of 25 duly recognized digital cities all over the country.

These are Metro Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Metro Clark, Iloilo, Dumaguete City, Sta. Rosa City, Dasmariñas City, Baguio City, Legazpi City, Naga City, Cagayan de Oro City, Tarlac City, Laoag City, Puerto Princesa City, Lipa City, Balanga City, Taytay in Rizal, Dagupan, Malolos City, ROXAS CITY, Tagbilaran City, San Fernando City in La Union, Cainta in Rizal and Palayan City.

DICT said significant changes such as overall boost in economic growth, increase in employment and commercial activity, and improvement in the quality of lives among communities have been observed in these localities since their recognition as digital cities.
