The Local Government Unit of Lambunao, in partnership with Department of Education, gathered educators, officials, and stakeholders on June 3, 2026, for the Municipal Education Summit themed โWith Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: Leading Every Child to Read.โ
Mayor Reynor R. Gonzales emphasized literacy as the foundation of learning, citing Lambunaoโs Seal of Good Education Governance and local data showing 90% of learners can read, though comprehension challenges persist. He urged collective action, stressing education as a shared responsibility.
Representing Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., Dr. Raul N. Banias reaffirmed provincial support through programs like Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES Probins) and the expansion of BES Basa Proof of Concept. Provincial officials and Board Member Jason Gonzales likewise underscored empowering teachers, strengthening literacy, and improving school infrastructure.
The summit featured education data presentations, panel discussions, and workshops with barangay and school clusters, fostering collaboration and concrete strategies to boost reading proficiency. Stakeholders pledged unified commitment to ensure every child acquires essential skills to succeed in school and life.

The Iloilo Provincial Government has turned over P5 million in financial assistance to the Municipality of Banate for the establishment of a Blue Swimming Crab hatchery.
Mayor Peter Paul Gonzales accompanied by municipal officials received the check from Assistant Provincial Administrator Juanito Acanto, Jr. during a turnover ceremony held today.
The funding will support the construction and initial establishment of the hatchery, which aims to strengthen local blue swimming crab production and improve livelihood opportunities for fisherfolk in the municipality.
The project is expected to support sustainable aquaculture practices and help stabilize crab supply in the local market.

The Iloilo Provincial Health Office conducted a Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) Surveillance and Measles-Rubella Cases and Outbreak Response orientation on May 26, 2026 at the St. Clementโs Jubilee Hall.
The activity aimed to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of healthcare workers in surveillance, prevention, and response to measles-rubella cases and outbreaks, as well as the detection and reporting of Congenital Rubella Syndrome.
Resource speakers included Mr. Neel Alcayaga, Nurse V of the Department of Health (DOH), who discussed the Guidelines on Measles Outbreak Response, and Mr. Wilfred Eledia, Assistant Surveillance Officer of the DOH, who presented the topic on Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS).
Through continuous capacity-building initiatives, the Iloilo Provincial Health Office remains committed to enhancing disease surveillance and outbreak preparedness to protect the health and well-being of every Ilonggo.

POTOTAN, Iloilo โ In line with the provincial government's vision of a "Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo" and under the ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: Rehabilitation, Empowerment, Social Transformation and Reintegration Track program, the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) continues to champion inclusive and sustainable development by extending livelihood opportunities to all sectors of society.
On May 28, 2026, PAGRO successfully conducted a Coffee Farming Orientation for thirty (30) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the BJMP Pototan Male Dormitory. The activity was facilitated by Mr. Jepty Cabanilla and Mr. Nerio Lustria of the Provincial Agriculture Office.
The initiative aims to equip participants with practical agricultural knowledge and skills that can support their transition into becoming productive members of the community upon reintegration.
Beyond individual empowerment, the activity also advances the province's growing coffee industry while promoting rehabilitation, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods for PDLs and their families.
The orientation covered key technical aspects of coffee production, including:
โข Coffee Nursery Establishment and Maintenance โ developing quality coffee seedlings through proper nursery management;
โข Coffee Plantation Management and Maintenance โ implementing sustainable practices for productive coffee farming;
โข Coffee Propagation Techniques โ applying effective methods for plant reproduction; and
โข Coffee Harvesting, Processing, and Storage โ ensuring proper post-harvest handling to maintain bean quality and market value.
Through meaningful agricultural interventions such as this, the Province of Iloilo reaffirms its commitment to empowering communities, fostering hope, and building a brighter future for every Ilonggo. # #
