POTOTAN, Iloilo โ€” In line with the provincial government's vision of a "Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo" and under the ๐๐ƒ๐‹ ๐‘๐„๐’๐“๐€๐‘๐“: Rehabilitation, Empowerment, Social Transformation and Reintegration Track program, the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) continues to champion inclusive and sustainable development by extending livelihood opportunities to all sectors of society.

On May 28, 2026, PAGRO successfully conducted a Coffee Farming Orientation for thirty (30) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the BJMP Pototan Male Dormitory. The activity was facilitated by Mr. Jepty Cabanilla and Mr. Nerio Lustria of the Provincial Agriculture Office.

The initiative aims to equip participants with practical agricultural knowledge and skills that can support their transition into becoming productive members of the community upon reintegration.

Beyond individual empowerment, the activity also advances the province's growing coffee industry while promoting rehabilitation, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods for PDLs and their families.

The orientation covered key technical aspects of coffee production, including:
โ€ข Coffee Nursery Establishment and Maintenance โ€” developing quality coffee seedlings through proper nursery management;
โ€ข Coffee Plantation Management and Maintenance โ€” implementing sustainable practices for productive coffee farming;
โ€ข Coffee Propagation Techniques โ€” applying effective methods for plant reproduction; and
โ€ข Coffee Harvesting, Processing, and Storage โ€” ensuring proper post-harvest handling to maintain bean quality and market value.

Through meaningful agricultural interventions such as this, the Province of Iloilo reaffirms its commitment to empowering communities, fostering hope, and building a brighter future for every Ilonggo. # #
