On May 5, 2026, an extension activity was successfully conducted at the Ati Community in Sitio Nagpana, Barotac Viejo, highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region VI & VII and West Visayas State University (WVSU).

The MOA was formally signed by Dr. Raymund B. Moreno, Dean of the College of Business and Management, and Atty. Princess May Alcarde-Oral, Regional Director of NCIP Region VI & VII, signifying a strengthened partnership for community-driven development initiatives.

This collaboration paves the way for the implementation of two extension projects:

๐Ÿ“Œ Coffee Shop Management Project

These initiatives aim to enhance financial literacy, expand livelihood opportunities, and promote long-term socio-economic development for the members of the Nagpana Minorities Association, particularly the Ati ICCs.

The Antique Aklan Community Service Center (AACSC) successfully conducted its 2nd Serbisyo Caravan with the theme: โ€œSerbisyo ka Gobyerno, Dar-on Kaninyo! Taga Iraya Ako.โ€

Bringing government closer to the people, the caravan reached the Iraynon Bukidnon community of General Fullon, delivering vital services to 420 Indigenous Peoples.

Strengthening Ethical Research for Indigenous Peoples

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region VI & VII proudly enters into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Central Philippine University (CPU) โ€“ Research Ethics Review Board (RERB) to advance ethical, responsible, and culturally grounded research.

This partnership, led by Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, President of Central Philippine University and Regional Director of NCIP Atty. Princess May C. Alcarde-Oral.

Through this collaboration, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the principles of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) and ensure that research involving Indigenous communities is conducted with integrity, respect, and accountability. This milestone marks a significant step toward strengthening research governance and empowering Indigenous Cultural Communities.
