On May 5, 2026, an extension activity was successfully conducted at the Ati Community in Sitio Nagpana, Barotac Viejo, highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region VI & VII and West Visayas State University (WVSU).

The MOA was formally signed by Dr. Raymund B. Moreno, Dean of the College of Business and Management, and Atty. Princess May Alcarde-Oral, Regional Director of NCIP Region VI & VII, signifying a strengthened partnership for community-driven development initiatives.

This collaboration paves the way for the implementation of two extension projects:

📌 Pagdumala sa Pinansyal: A Financial Literacy and Management Project in Nagpana, Barotac Viejo
📌 Coffee Shop Management Project

These initiatives aim to enhance financial literacy, expand livelihood opportunities, and promote long-term socio-economic development for the members of the Nagpana Minorities Association, particularly the Ati ICCs.

The Antique Aklan Community Service Center (AACSC) successfully conducted its 2nd Serbisyo Caravan with the theme: “Serbisyo ka Gobyerno, Dar-on Kaninyo! Taga Iraya Ako.”

Bringing government closer to the people, the caravan reached the Iraynon Bukidnon community of General Fullon, delivering vital services to 420 Indigenous Peoples.

✔️ SM Store Iloilo (Baby Essentials) – 6

Additional support was also provided through the distribution of 60 jerry cans, Nutty Fruity Bars, and Oral Health Family Packages, responding to both immediate and household needs.

This achievement was made possible through the unwavering collaboration and commitment of our partner agencies and stakeholders: Department of Health Region VI, Western Visayas General Hospital, Provincial Department of Health–Antique, DOH Human Resources for Health–Antique, San Remigio Municipal Health Center, LGU San Remigio, PhilHealth Antique, Philippine Statistics Authority–Antique, National Commission for Senior Citizens, Department of Social Welfare and Development, ASGMH Radiology Department, Provincial Government of Antique, Provincial Health Office, Provincial Agriculturist Office, 61st Infantry “Hunter” Battalion, Municipal Police Station–San Remigio, SM Store Iloilo, Department of Education Antique, General Fullon Integrated School, MSWDO San Remigio, Barangay Local Government Unit of General Fullon, and the Council of Elders.

Tinalakay sa pagpupulong ang mga posibleng pakikipagtulungan sa larangan ng edukasyon, na nakatuon sa pagpapatibay ng mga programa at inisyatibang nagtataguyod ng kapakanan, karapatan, at kultural na integridad ng mga Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).

Binigyang-diin din ng NCIP ang patuloy nitong pagbubukas sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga State Universities and Colleges upang isulong ang inklusibo, angkop sa kultura, at komunidad-na-nakapokus na mga programang pangkaunlaran.

Strengthening Ethical Research for Indigenous Peoples

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region VI & VII proudly enters into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Central Philippine University (CPU) – Research Ethics Review Board (RERB) to advance ethical, responsible, and culturally grounded research.

This partnership, led by Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, President of Central Philippine University and Regional Director of NCIP Atty. Princess May C. Alcarde-Oral.

Through this collaboration, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the principles of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) and ensure that research involving Indigenous communities is conducted with integrity, respect, and accountability. This milestone marks a significant step toward strengthening research governance and empowering Indigenous Cultural Communities.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. appoints Ethnographic Commissioner for Central Mindanao, Nancy A. Catamco, as the new Chairperson of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.

𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 📣

Alinsunod sa Memorandum Circular No. 116 mula sa Tanggapan ng Pangulo, ang NCIP ay magpapatupad ng half-day work-from-home arrangement sa Miyerkules, 1 Abril 2026.

Lahat ng tanggapan ng Komisyon ay sasailalim sa work-from-home setup mula 8:00 ng umaga hanggang 12:00 ng tanghali, at ang lahat ng opisyal na transaksyon at serbisyo ay suspendido simula alas-dose ng hapon.

Magsasara rin ang mga tanggapan ng NCIP sa Huwebes at Biyernes Santo, 2–3 Abril 2026.

Magbabalik ang regular na operasyon ng mga tanggapan sa Lunes, 6 Abril 2026.
