The Project Management Office (PMO) of NIA Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II reported to the Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) of the Regional Development Council (RDC) VI that the implementation of the project is on schedule. In fact, as of May 2026 the overall physical accomplishment of the project was 83.13% with works focused in the irrigation component.
Reporting the updates on behalf of Regional Manager and Concurrent Project Manager Engr. Jonel Borres were Contract Administration Chief Engr. Louie Agujitas, Technical Asst. Atty Michael Margarico and IDD Officer In-Charge Steve Cordero. Todayโs IDC meeting was presided by its Chairperson Engr. Nilo Jardeleza.

EMB Region VI Conducts On-the-Spot Environmental Monitoring at JRMP II Sites
The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Regional Office VI carried out an on-the-spot site monitoring activity at the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) on May 21, 2026 which was led by EMB Region VI representatives Engr. Judee Marie Tenebro and Engr. Vendith R. Lumio.
Main objective of said inspection was to verify the projectโs compliance with environmental conditions mandated under its issued Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).
To ensure a thorough assessment, the monitoring team divided its focus between data verification and actual field inspections. The team conducted an in-depth desk audit of all compliance documents, reports, and monitoring records previously submitted by the project proponent to the EMB. They also visited JRMP II work areas validating the physical updates and environmental mitigation measures currently in place.
The field visit was facilitated by the JRMP II Environmental Unit.

PM Borres conducts weekend site visit to HLC
Demonstrating strong commitment and hands-on leadership, Engineer Jonel B. Borres, Regional Manager of NIA 6 and JRMP II Concurrent Project Manager, conducted a site visit earlier today to personally monitor the construction progress of the High Line Canal in the municipalities of Calinog and Lambunao.
The visit highlighted the dedication of the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure that the project continues to move forward efficiently and on schedule.

JRMP II MMT Conducts Q2 Site Validation and Compliance Review
Continuing its rigorous oversight of the regionโs biggest water infrastructure project, the Multipartite Monitoring Team (MMT) for the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) conducted its 2nd Quarter meeting and site validation activity from May 5-7, 2026.
The three-day activity focused on the ongoing transition of the project, moving from the massive structural milestones of the primary dams toward the intricate network of irrigation canals that will soon deliver water to thousands of Ilonggo farmers.
Various Environmental and Social safeguard compliances were checked and validated onsite: ensuring dust control measures, proper waste management, and minimal disruption to local flora and fauna during canal excavation.
Addressing the impact of construction on local communities, ensuring right-of-way protocols are respected, and verifying that local labor and safety standards are upheld. Aligning the physical accomplishments of local contractors with the established environmental management plans.

Thirty-seven Irrigatorsโ Associations (IAs) and the Project Management Office (PMO) of the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) convened on May 8, 2026 at the Operations Building in Brgy. Agcalaga, Calinog, Iloilo.
Spearheaded by the IA Services Section under the leadership of Ms. Ivy Rose Doplayna, the meeting was conducted to discuss pressing challenges and concerns of the associations as well as provide updates on the project implementation, particularly in the Zone 1 of the project.
IA Presidents were given the opportunity to raise their issues and concerns before key JRMP II personnel, who also provided corresponding solutions and recommendations.
The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration and ensure continued coordination between NIA and the IAs.
Present during the meeting were Engr. Gwendolyn Mae Velasco, Division Manager for Construction Management; Engr. Angeles A. Today, as the nation honors the workforce of the country, works at the Irrigation Component of NIA Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) continue to take shape in time for project completion slated on June 2027. All of these efforts are intended to significantly contribute to a food and water-sufficient Province and City of Iloilo.
To take advantage of the favorable weather for construction activities, works continued today in various project sites despite the holiday. As a gesture of support, NIA 6 Regional Manager and concurrent JRMP II Project Manager Engr. Jonel Borres joined personnel rendering overtime work in the town of Cabatuan where canal works are ongoing.
Manager Borres takes great pride in the men and women who are turning this projectโs vision into a reality for Iloilo and the entire region. To note, the milestones, accomplishments and recognitions received by the JRMP II are built on the tireless efforts of its entire workforce.
