As part of the celebration, Dr. Narzoles presented the various scholarship programs and educational assistance initiatives offered by CHED, highlighting the agency’s commitment to making quality higher education more accessible to Filipino students, particularly those from fisherfolk families and other underserved communities.

The presentation provided participants with valuable information on scholarship benefits, eligibility requirements, and application procedures. It also encouraged them to pursue higher education as a pathway to personal development, community empowerment, and improved opportunities for the future.

The Scholarships for Staff and Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) is now accepting applications for FY 2026!

The program offers scholarships to Higher Education Institution (HEI) teaching and non-teaching personnel who are seeking advanced studies in identified universities and colleges in the Philippines.

Successful applicants will receive financial privileges including tuition and fees, stipend and research allowance until degree completion.

Interested applicants must be nominated and endorsed by their Sending Higher Education Institution (SHEI) and must complete and submit all required documents on or before the prescribed deadlines.

This annual celebration commemorates the historic victory of Filipino revolutionary forces in the Battle of Alapan on May 28, 1898, where the Philippine flag was first unfurled in victory. Through the prominent display of the national banner, CHEDRO VI reaffirms its commitment to honoring the country’s rich history and inspiring a deeper appreciation of Filipino identity among its stakeholders.

The office remains steadfast in observing the guidelines set by the government regarding National Flag Days and recognizes the importance of fostering patriotism and civic consciousness. By participating in this meaningful activity, CHEDRO VI joins the nation in paying tribute to the sacrifices and achievements of the Filipino people in their quest for freedom and independence.

National Flag Days serve as a reminder of the enduring values embodied by the Philippine flag- freedom, courage, peace, sovereignty, and national unity. More than a ceremonial observance, it is an opportunity for every Filipino to reflect on the country’s history and the responsibilities of citizenship. The celebration culminates on June 12, Independence Day, highlighting the significance of the flag as a powerful symbol of the nation’s aspirations and achievements. Through this observance, CHEDRO VI helps promote a stronger sense of national pride and encourages all Filipinos to uphold the ideals represented by the Philippine flag.

Anchored on the theme, “𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄-𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬,” the activity underscored CHED’s continuing commitment to accessible, inclusive, flexible, and globally responsive higher education through strengthened implementation of the ETEEAP.

In her welcome message, 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐆. 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐳𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃𝐑𝐎 𝐕𝐈’𝐬 𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐀𝐏 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐈𝐙𝐍) 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, emphasized that the activity aimed to strengthen institutional capacity for ETEEAP implementation while directly advancing the priority pillars of the CHED ACHIEVE Agenda, particularly A for Advanced and Accessible Lifelong Learning and I for Inclusive and Impact-Driven Internationalization.

The workshop was facilitated by 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧 𝐀. 𝐀𝐣𝐢𝐡𝐢𝐥, 𝐄𝐝𝐃,𝐌𝐒𝐓,𝐉𝐃,𝐑𝐌𝐓, 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐀𝐏, who guided participating higher education institutions (HEIs) in strengthening their readiness for ETEEAP implementation and deputization. Discussions focused on policy guidelines, quality assurance mechanisms, curriculum mapping, assessment processes, portfolio evaluation, and best practices in institutionalizing flexible learning pathways for adult learners and working professionals.

Representatives from 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧 presented their institutional outputs and readiness initiatives. These HEIs were identified among those in the Region prepared to apply for ETEEAP deputization after successfully meeting the requirements outlined in the readiness checklist. Their presentations demonstrated institutional commitment to expanding educational access and recognizing experiential learning as a valuable component of higher education.

𝐑𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐅. 𝐌𝐮𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐠, 𝐄𝐝𝐃, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐕 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃𝐑𝐎 𝐕𝐈, in his inspirational meesage, encouraged participating institutions to continue working on their ETEEAP applications and preparations for deputization. He emphasized that ETEEAP will greatly benefit individuals who possess extensive professional experience, industry skills, and specialized training but were unable to earn their bachelor’s degrees due to financial, personal, or societal constraints. Dr. Muyong further stressed that through ETEEAP, higher education institutions become instrumental in transforming lives by opening opportunities for career advancement, lifelong learning, and professional growth.

In his closing message, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐇. 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐂𝐨-𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃𝐑𝐎𝐕𝐈’𝐬 𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐀𝐏 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞, expressed appreciation to all participating HEIs for their active engagement and commitment to advancing ETEEAP implementation in the region. He emphasized that the success of the program depends on the collective efforts of CHED, HEIs, industry partners, and stakeholders in promoting lifelong learning.

The activity focused on finalizing institutional preparations for ETEEAP deputization, strengthening understanding of policies and quality assurance mechanisms, and enhancing readiness in delivering flexible, inclusive, and learner-centered programs. It also served as a venue for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and reaffirmation of CHED’s commitment to widening access to quality higher education for all Filipinos through innovative and alternative learning pathways.

Many nursing and allied health students in the Philippines are forced to stop their education or struggle to graduate due to the heavy, out-of-pocket costs of Related Learning Experience (RLE)—mandatory clinical rotations and field training, which standard scholarships rarely cover.

Under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen our country’s medical workforce, CHED has officially launched the AHEAD Grant (Allied Health Experiential Assistance for Deserving Students) on May 25 to ease the financial burden on allied health students completing their mandatory clinical and field-based training.

CHED Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis and Senator Bam Aquino led the official launch of the initiative which will provide a one-time financial subsidy to qualified students across 14 priority healthcare disciplines, covering the costs of clinical duties, uniforms, transportation, accommodation, insurance, and medical requirements.

The BEACON Program features strategic clusters designed to complement existing micro-credential courses on open learning platforms. Through this initiative, UP Manila aims to upskill and reskill biomedical faculty and staff in addressing the shortage of healthcare professionals, responding to growing healthcare demands, and adapting to rapid technological advancements in the field.
