๐๐๐ซ๐รฑ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ, ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก ๐๐, ๐๐๐6 โ The Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council (RAFC) 6 of Western Visayas proudly emerged as one of the top awardees during the National Volunteers Day celebration organized by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, held at Sequioa Hotel, Aseana, Paraรฑaque City.
Engr. Buen S. Mondejar, Chairperson of RAFC 6, secured 2nd Place in the Outstanding RAFC Chairperson Category, a testament to his leadership and dedication in advancing participatory governance in agriculture and fisheries.
The RAFC 6 Executive Committee also earned 4th Place in the Outstanding Executive Committee Category, reflecting the councilโs collective commitment to policy advocacy, grassroots empowerment, and volunteer-driven service.
Adding to the regionโs pride, the Accounting Section of the Department of Agriculture โ Western Visayas was recognized with 2nd Place in the Most Outstanding Regional Accounting Office Category, underscoring its efficiency, transparency, and accountability in financial management.
The awarding ceremony was graced by the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council (PAFC) Chairpersons of Western Visayas together with their coordinators, whose presence highlighted the strong spirit of regional solidarity. Their participation underscored the collaborative effort that continues to drive agricultural and fisheries development across the provinces.
Among the provincial councils, the Province of Aklan distinguished itself by winning the Most Outstanding PAFC Chairperson and Coordinator Award, while also securing 2nd Place in the Most Supportive Local Government Unit Category. These recognitions further emphasized the active role of local councils and LGUs in strengthening volunteerism and ensuring food security.
These collective achievements highlight the vibrant volunteerism and collaborative spirit of Western Visayas in strengthening agricultural and fisheries governance. RAFC VI Holds 1st Executive Committee Meeting for 2026
Iloilo City, February 24, 2026 โ The Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council (RAFC) VI convened its first Executive Committee Meeting of the year last February 24, 2026, bringing together sectoral leaders, coordinators, and partner agencies to set the tone for regional agricultural and fisheries in 2026.
The meeting highlighted priority programs for inclusive development, updates on ongoing RAFC VI initiatives, and strategies for strengthening participatory governance across provinces. Members of the Executive Committee also discussed upcoming events, policy recommendations, and coordination mechanisms to ensure alignment with national directives while addressing local needs.
The session concluded with a fruitful discussion and the passage of resolutions advancing policy recommendations and participatory governance.

| The Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) formally opened this yearโs Areawide Participatory Performance Review and Planning Workshops with the Visayas Cluster session in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on August 12โ15, 2025.
Nearly 100 stakeholders came together, including members of the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Councils (RAFCs)โRAFC Western Visayas, led by Chairperson Buen Mondejar; RAFC Central Visayas, led by Vice Chairperson Joselito Albeos; and RAFC Eastern Visayas, led by Chairperson Miguel Pedroso.
For the first time in the history of these annual reviews, provincial agriculturists were invited to participate, along with provincial AFC representatives, local government partners, and PCAF officials.

The Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Council (RAFC) VI successfully convened its 2nd Sectoral Committee Meeting on July 4, 2025, at Zuri Hotel, Benigno Aquino Avenue, Iloilo City. The meeting served as a platform to share updates on the status of organic agriculture across Western Visayas and reaffirm the Councilโs commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in the region.
Mr. Godynel Isedenia, Chairperson of the Organic Agriculture Sectoral Committee, shared insightful perspectives on Republic Act No. 11511, emphasizing its vital role in promoting grassroots participation and enhancing access to organic certification systems. The committee expressed unwavering support for the regional implementation of the program, recognizing its potential to uplift local farmers, enhance food security, and contribute to national sustainability goals.
A key highlight was the presentation from Ms. Zarlina B. Cuello, Focal Person for the Department of Agriculture-Western Visayas (DA-WV) Organic Agriculture (OA) Program and Regional Technical Director for Research and Extension. She provided a comprehensive update on ongoing initiatives under the OA Program.
Supporting her presentation, OA Report Officer Ms. Charlynn Buncag delivered a detailed report on program implementation, highlighting the progress of various projects aimed at strengthening organic farming in the region.
In a key segment of the meeting, RAFC Chairperson Engr. Buen S. Mondejar presented consolidated issues and concerns raised during the AFCs and Farmersโ Congress held in May 2025 across the provinces of Guimaras, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique. The Council proactively responded by passing resolutions aimed at addressing these concerns and reinforcing support for the agricultural sector in Western Visayas.
Attendees included representatives from various sectoral committees, Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) Chairpersons, Coordinators, and members of the organic practitionersโ associations. Also in attendance were representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 6, Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) 6, and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC)โkey partners during the conduct of the Farmersโ Congress.
