NANO ENTERPRISE ORIENTATION📈

The Office of the City Agriculturist extends its sincere appreciation to the City Government, under the leadership of our Honorable Mayor Raisa Treñas, and the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO), for conducting the NANO Enterprise Orientation for our Iloilo City farmers/sellers.

This initiative is a significant step toward strengthening our local agricultural sector by equipping our stakeholders with the right information on business name registration, enterprise development, and market participation. Through this orientation, our farmers and vendors are given the chance to formalize their operations, expand their reach, and become active contributors to the city’s economic growth.

Your continued support and commitment to empowering grassroots entrepreneurs truly make a difference. Together, we are building a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural community.

The City Agriculturist Office (CAgrO) is strengthening efforts to help farmers cope with drought through modern and sustainable solutions.

Among the key initiatives are rainwater catchment systems, which store water for irrigation and help prevent flooding, and solar-powered irrigation systems that provide efficient water supply using renewable energy.

Since 2021, around 695 rainwater catchment units have been established across barangays, boosting water reserves for farming and aquaculture.

Farmers are also encouraged to adopt water-saving practices such as mulching and proper irrigation timing, as the city continues to ensure food security and protect livelihoods amid extreme heat.

To mitigate the impact of extreme heat on local crop production and offset rising fuel costs, the Iloilo City Government—through the Office of the City Agriculturist—distributed 500 plastic drums equipped with faucets to 10 Farmers’ Associations and Ediscape gardeners. These units serve a dual purpose: providing critical water storage during the dry season and serving as rainwater harvesters during the monsoon. We extend our gratitude to DA NUPAP Region 6 for their strong partnership with LGU Iloilo City in our shared mission toward food self-sufficiency🌱💖.
