Iloilo City, officially known as the City of Iloilo, is a highly urbanized city situated on the southeastern tip of Panay Island in the Philippines. Although geographically part of the province of Iloilo, the city operates independently from the provincial government. It serves as the center of the Iloilo–Guimaras Metropolitan Area and stands as the regional hub and primate city of Western Visayas.
According to the 2024 census, Iloilo City has a population of 473,728, making it the most populous city in the region. The broader metropolitan area is home to 1,039,935 people, underscoring the city’s vital role as a center of commerce, governance, and culture in Western Visayas.
