HOUSEHOLD FIRE SAFETY REMINDER: NEVER LEAVE YOUR COOKING UNATTENDED!

Leaving your cooking unattended is one of the leading causes of household fires. A few minutes of distraction can lead to devastating consequences, putting your family and entire home at risk.

Keep your home safe with these essential steps:

Never leave the kitchen while cooking: If you need to step away—even for a moment—turn off the heat first or ask someone else to watch the food.

Avoid distractions: Do not get distracted by your phone, TV, or other chores while the stove is active.

Keep the cooking area clear: Remove combustible items like pot holders, towels, paper, or plastic wrappers away from the burner.

Be prepared: Keep an appropriate lid or a fire blanket nearby to smother potential grease fires (never use water on a grease fire!).

Prevention starts with mindful habits. Protect your family and property—watch your cooking at all times!
