The Akbayan YouthβCavite expresses its deep concern over the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the devastating impact of the conflict on civilians. We condemn all acts that result in the loss of innocent lives and the deprivation of basic human necessities. No political objective, military strategy, or national interest should justify the disregard of civilian life and human dignity.
We call for accountability under international law. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials must be subject to due process and investigation for alleged violations of international humanitarian law. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, citing alleged responsibility for crimes including the use of starvation as a method of warfare. These allegations must be addressed through proper international legal mechanisms, and accountability must apply regardless of a person's position or political power.
At the same time, we call on the international communityβincluding the Philippinesβto support meaningful diplomatic efforts, humanitarian assistance, and a just and lasting political resolution that recognizes the rights, security, freedom, and dignity of both Palestinians and Israelis.
We also urge the public to remain informed and aware of what is happening in Gaza. Behind every statistic reported in the news is a human beingβa child, a parent, a friend, a family, a person with dreams, loved ones, and a life they hoped to live. The scale of civilian suffering should never become just another number on a news feed.
Being informed is not about choosing hatred or abandoning dialogue. It is about recognizing human suffering and refusing to become indifferent to it. We believe that Filipinos, particularly the youth, have a responsibility to remain engaged with international issues and to critically examine information, humanitarian reports, and developments from credible sources.
From Cavite, we raise our voices for peaceβnot a peace that demands silence in the face of suffering, but a peace founded on justice, equality, freedom, accountability, and human dignity.
The youth of the Philippines stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their aspiration for freedom, safety, dignity, and self-determination, while continuing to affirm the fundamental right of every civilian to live free from violence and fear.
We stand for life.
We stand for peace.
We stand for justice.
We stand with humanity.
